The Mendocino County Office of Education is a public agency whose primary purpose is to provide educational leadership, resources and services to schools to ensure wide-ranging educational opportunities for all students. This mission is accomplished through cooperative efforts with teachers, school districts, families, and communities; through direct instructional programs and administrative services; and through coordination with the California Department of Education and other agencies.

Job Summary

Under the limited supervision of the Business Services Directors, coordinate and perform complex accounting tasks; produce County Office payroll; assist in maintenance of the budget including the use of the position control system; maintain a variety of fiscal records; submit state and federal reports.

Benefits Employees are provided with an insurance plan, which includes health, vision, and dental insurance for employee, spouse, and dependents, at a shared cost. Participation in this plan is mandatory for employees working 35 plus hours a week. Employee will be a member of the Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS) to which both the employee and MCOE contribute. Employee may elect to be a member of the Mendocino County Federation of School Employees Union. MCOE does not participate in the Social Security system. Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications Four (4) years of increasingly responsible accounting support work, or; At least 2 years of experience at the Accounting Technician I or Accounting Assistant III level and an AA degree in a related field, preferably accounting. Related college education beyond an AA degree may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. Accounting support experience beyond the requirement may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to 2 years of education; Experience with SACS (Standard Account Code Structure) used in school accounting is desirable; Possess or obtain upon employment, a valid California Driver License; Provide proof of automobile insurability; Meet the physical requirements necessary to perform assigned duties safely and effectively, including lifting twenty-five (25) pounds on an occasional basis and in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds with assistance. Salary Info

$25.94 – $43.28 an hour as per Range 30 of the Classified Salary Schedule.
