The Fraud Risk Specialist coordinates fraud investigations and strategy reviews with the goal of enhancing member security and mitigating loss to PSECU. Develop and implement response plans to mitigate fraud events and associated risk. Complete advanced data analytics to identify fraudulent activity through assigned channel(s), identifying control weaknesses, and making suggestions/executing changes to enhance security controls. Provide training and guidance to Financial Crimes Risk Management (FCRM) staff regarding digital banking risk management platforms and the implemented mitigation strategies.Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am-3:30pm, 8:00am-4:00pm, or 9:00am-5:00pm
In this position, you will
- Fraud Reviews and Mitigation: Conduct complex fraud reviews and manage mitigation efforts to track and prevent fraud activity in assigned channel(s). Develop and implement large-scale fraud response plans, providing guidance and direction to FCRM staff, including Analysts and Investigators.
- Strategy administration: Work independently with external vendors and coordinate with Fraud Strategist and to administer fraud risk policies and rules in associated fraud risk management platform(s), including ongoing optimization and fine-tuning.
- Risk Monitoring and Recommendations: Monitor and analyze emerging fraud risk within specified channel(s), including the impact and likelihood of these risks on the Credit Union’s competitive position, profitability and/or operational effectiveness and provide recommendations to proactively manage emerging risks.
- Internal Control Assessment: Identify internal control deficiencies within specified services, assess their impact on operations, and develop the steps necessary to correct them.
- Data Analysis and Communication: Synthesize data analysis and investigative results into professional and detailed summaries and reports. Make oral and/or written presentations to management during and at the conclusion of a significant investigation. Identify fraud weaknesses and make recommendations for improvements to reduce fraud risk.
- Training and Direction: Coordinate with Fraud Managers to provide trainings and direction to FCRM staff, including Analysts and Investigators, to properly handle larger channel-specific fraud reviews.
- Collaboration: Interact with other departments and members to identify targeted fraud attempts. Understand and apply PSECU policies and strategic goals/initiatives to daily work and recommendations. Maintain a detailed knowledge and understanding of applicable banking regulations; this includes, but is not limited to, Bank Secrecy Act, Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act, Regulation E, Computer Crimes Act, Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) guidelines related to digital banking security, PA Criminal Code, PA Rules of Court, VISA Bylaws and Operating Regulations.
