The Medical Gas Installer (Louisiana Certified) is responsible for the installation, brazing, and testing of medical gas piping systems in healthcare facilities. This role requires a current Louisiana Medical Gas Piping Installer License, strict compliance with national codes and Louisiana regulations, and a high attention to detail.
- Louisiana defines medical gas installation as work involving piping systems transporting gases for medical purposes.
- Installers must hold an SPBLA‑issued license and pass both written and manual examinations.
- Installers must maintain brazing qualification in accordance with NFPA 99C.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and assemble medical gas piping systems in hospitals and healthcare facilities in compliance with Louisiana regulations.
- Perform brazing operations under AWS brazing standards and ASME Section IX, as required for Louisiana‑approved training and qualification programs.
- Ensure all installations meet NFPA 99 Health Care Facilities Code and ASSE 6010 requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation of brazing qualifications, training, system tests, and daily work.
- Coordinate closely with Gallo Mechanical superintendents, foremen, project managers, and other field personnel.
- Follow all company safety standards and job‑site protocols.
- Represent Gallo Mechanical’s values of quality, dependability, and professionalism on every project.
Requirements
- Louisiana Medical Gas Piping Installer License issued by the State Plumbing Board of Louisiana (written + manual exam required).
- Completion of a recognized Medical Gas Installer training program meeting ASSE 6010 and SPBLA criteria.
- 32 hours of medical gas installation training meeting SPBLA and NFPA 99C requirements.
- Current NFPA 99C‑compliant brazing performance qualification.
- Experience in plumbing, pipefitting, or mechanical systems installation.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Previous healthcare mechanical or medical gas installation experience.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, piping diagrams, and specifications.
- Strong communication skills for coordination with Gallo leadership, subcontractors, and inspectors.
- Commitment to craftsmanship, safety, and consistent high‑quality work.
