Description
If you enjoy operating equipment, working with large materials, and seeing the results of your work every day, a Shear Operator role at Clow could be a great fit.
As a Shear Operator, you'll operate shear equipment to cut metal sheets to precise specifications, ensuring every piece meets quality standards before moving to the next stage of production. You'll also use forklifts and overhead cranes to safely move raw materials throughout the facility, helping keep production running efficiently.
Shifts Available:
- Shift 16: 3:00pm – 1:00am, Monday – Thursday (+$1.25/hour shift differential)
Starting Rate of Pay:
- $19.80 per hour base rate. Candidates with relevant experience may be eligible for base pay up to $20.80 per hour.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate shear machine to cut material according to job card specifications
- Monitor cutting process and inspect finished pieces for quality and accuracy
- Adjust machine settings as needed to maintain proper dimensions and tolerances
- Move materials using forklifts and overhead cranes to support production flow
- Unload trucks and transport raw materials to designated areas
Requirements
- 6–12 months of relevant manufacturing or material handling experience preferred
- Ability to read and follow job instructions within an ERP system
- Experience using measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers
- Ability to safely operate or learn to operate forklifts and overhead cranes
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks based on production needs
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and move throughout the shift in a production environment
- Frequent handling of metal materials and scrap
- Ability to lift and move materials as needed up to 100lbs
- Work performed in a manufacturing setting with exposure to moving equipment
- Required PPE: eye protection, hearing protection, MET guard safety shoes
