Job overview and responsibilities
As an Engineering Automation Test Manager of Information Technology at United Airlines, you will be responsible for day-to-day supervision and direction of QE Engineer related roles across multiple cross-functional areas. You will directly supervise the Quality Engineering professionals.
In this role you will have the accountability of leading Quality efforts on multiple projects and/or a large program that consists of multiple testing tracks is necessary. You will work closely with US senior managers, managers, and SME leadership team to influence technical and architectural aspects of computing platforms.
• Resource Management including mentoring, coaching performance appraisal, Capacity Planning and Budgeting.
• Develop and execute comprehensive test strategies, plans and schedules to ensure product quality and timely delivery.
• Drive test automation initiatives, including in-sprint and intelligent testing, farmwork, script creation and maintenance to improve coverage and reduce test cycle completion time.
• Build strong partnerships with application development teams, product managers, & other stakeholders to ensure alignment on testing strategy, schedule, and scope.
• Continuously evaluate and improve testing processes, standards, metrics, and tools to enhance overall test efficiencies.
• Manage and mitigate testing related risks and issues.

Qualifications
What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or computer engineering.
• 10+ years of Software Testing and 5+ years of people management.
• AWS Cloud Practitioner & ISQTB / CSTE or similar.
• Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC).
• Lead technical implementation of automation initiatives.
• Drive adoption of automation, API, contract, performance, and AI-enabled testing practices.
• Establish governance to ensure compliance with QE standards, quality gates, and engineering best practices across assigned portfolios.
• Oversee end-to-end delivery of QE commitments, ensuring quality, schedule, and execution excellence.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, and DevOps teams to improve release quality, automation maturity, and CI/CD adoption.
• Monitor quality KPIs, identify risks, and drive continuous improvement through data-driven insights.
• Mentor technical leads and QE engineers, building engineering capabilities and fostering innovation.
• DevOps CICD with continues automation and testing.
• Drive root cause analysis, technical problem-solving, and implementation of scalable, reusable testing solutions.
• Ensure delivery teams follow enterprise quality standards while meeting business objectives and release timelines.
• Well versed in Test Automation tool, examples - ReadyAPI, AccelQ,, Groovy Scripting, Selenium/BDD Rest Assured, ADO, JIRA, Github, Harness, Jenkins, Postman, Fiddler, Datadog, Kibana.
• Ability to support CST hours during production deployments.
