Your role and responsibilities

As a Client Success Engineer (Brand Technical Specialist) for zModernization, you:

Serve as a trusted technical consultant to IBM clients and sellers, guiding zModernization conversations with clarity, credibility, and a strong understanding of client business drivers.

Architect and demonstrate zModernization solutions through Proofs of Technology that help clients evaluate options, understand tradeoffs, and move modernization initiatives forward with confidence.

Engage clients in consultative discussions to understand modernization goals, technical constraints, and success criteria, translating those insights into practical solution designs.

Collaborate closely with IBM sellers and Business Partners as part of a channel‑led route to market, aligning technical outcomes with sales strategy and delivery execution.

Apply hands‑on expertise across zModernization tools to support successful solution adoption, reinforce client confidence, and build momentum toward broader modernization outcomes.

Required technical and professional expertise

Working knowledge of zModernization products such as watsonx Code Assistant for Z, zSystems Security, Z Open Automation Utilities, and related tooling, applied in client‑facing solution design.

Experience operating in a technical consulting role, supporting clients and sellers by shaping solution approaches and providing clear architectural and implementation guidance.

Hands‑on experience implementing zModernization solutions and integrating them into existing IBM Z environments.

Comfort leading or owning Proofs of Technology, guiding clients through technical evaluation while ensuring solutions are sound, relevant, and clearly articulated.

Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and maintain momentum during PoTs and early solution adoption phases.

Preferred technical and professional experience

Familiarity working through a Business Partner-led route to market, with the ability to collaborate effectively across IBM, partners, and clients.

Broader exposure to the IBM Z and zSoftware ecosystem, including Z Service Management Suite, Z Digital Integration Hub, Zowe, and adjacent modernization technologies.

Knowledge of Linux on Z and LinuxONE, particularly how Linux‑based workloads and open tooling complement IBM Z modernization strategies.

Awareness of cross‑platform integration patterns spanning automation, DevOps, and hybrid cloud environments.

Relevant technical certifications in zModernization or zSoftware technologies that enhance credibility in client‑facing technical conversations.
