Job Description

The KAM will be responsible for nurturing and expanding relationships with a portfolio of high-value clients. This role requires a deep understanding of customer needs, strategic account planning, and the ability to coordinate internal resources to deliver tailored solutions that drive long-term client satisfaction and business growth.

Account Management & Growth

  • Serve as the primary contact for key accounts.
  • Build and maintain strong executive and buyer-level relationships to drive category growth.
  • Develop and execute joint business plans with key accounts, including sales targets, promotional strategies, and product launches.
  • Monitor account performance, sales trends, and market share to identify new growth opportunities.
  • Organize and manage all aspects of trade shows, including promotional initiatives and a plan to drive traffic to our booth
  • Attend all tradeshows

Sales Execution

  • Partner with the field sales manager to ensure strong pull-through at the dealer/retail level.
  • Drive new products to be stocked in warehouses
  • Lead negotiations on pricing, terms, and programs within company guidelines.
  • Manage and approve customer deduction resolution, rebates, and promotional funding.

Strategic Planning

  • Collaborate with marketing to develop promotional calendars, POP programs, and marketing assets tailored to each account.
  • Provide input to supply chain and demand planning teams to ensure accurate forecasts and reliable service levels.
  • Conduct market and competitive analysis to anticipate industry trends and adjust account strategies accordingly.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Work closely with sales management, marketing, and operations to align strategies across independent hardware and paint channels.
  • Coordinate with customer service and logistics teams to ensure high levels of order fulfillment and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead internal account reviews and provide clear reporting on account status, risks, and opportunities.

Performance & Reporting

  • Achieve sales volume, revenue, and margin targets for assigned accounts.
  • Prepare regular business reviews, scorecards, and presentations for both internal leadership and key customers.
  • Track ROI on programs, promotions, and investments, providing data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (MBA is a plus).
  • Proven work experience as a Key Account Manager, Sales Manager, or relevant role.
  • Strong understanding of sales principles and customer relationship management.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and trends to make informed strategic decisions.
  • Self-motivated with a results-driven approach.
  • Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and MS Office Suite.
