Why we're hiring:
As a Project Manager in the WPP Enterprise Data Group, you will provide delivery coordination and technical project management across the Work Management Data Spine programme. This programme spans seven delivery workstreams with resources based in the UK and India.
You will manage sprint planning, backlog prioritisation, dependency tracking, and progress reporting to ensure the programme delivers on schedule and to quality standards. Your coordination will enable engineering teams to focus on delivery rather than administrative overhead.
This role requires strong technical project management skills with the ability to operate across time zones, manage cross-functional dependencies, and communicate effectively with both engineering leads and programme stakeholders.
You will be joining a high-profile programme delivering the data integration platform that underpins WPP Open Work Management, working at the intersection of data engineering, systems integration, and master data management.
What you'll be doing:
Sprint & delivery management
- Manage sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives across offshore engineering teams.
- Track and report on sprint velocity, burn-down, and delivery progress against programme milestones.
- Coordinate sprint deliverables across data engineering, systems integration, and data management workstreams.
Dependency & risk management
- Identify, track, and manage cross-workstream dependencies that impact delivery timelines.
- Maintain the programme risk and issue register, driving mitigation actions to resolution.
- Escalate blockers and delivery risks to programme leadership with recommendations.
Resource & capacity planning
- Manage resource allocation and capacity planning across offshore teams.
- Support the onboarding of new team members, ensuring access, tooling, and documentation are in place.
- Track team utilisation and identify capacity constraints ahead of sprint commitments.
Stakeholder communication
- Produce regular status reports and dashboards for programme leadership and stakeholders.
- Facilitate cross-timezone communication between UK and India-based teams.
- Manage the Jira project, ensuring tasks, estimates, and status are kept current.
What you'll need:
- Proven experience in technical project management within data engineering, software development, or systems integration programmes.
- Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) with practical experience running sprints.
- Proficiency with project management tools, particularly Jira and Confluence.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across technical and business audiences.
- Experience managing distributed teams across multiple time zones.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify risks, dependencies, and bottlenecks.
- Organised and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams.
- Understanding of data engineering or data platform programmes is an advantage.
- Experience with Databricks, Azure, or similar cloud platforms is a plus.
- Self-motivated with the ability to operate independently and drive delivery outcomes.
