The Art Employment Specialist will work as a key member of our employment team to assist artist and traditional job seekers in obtaining employment. The person in this position will work in collaboration with the Director of Strategic Projects to provide services related to the Art Program (Exploring Employment in the Arts, Artist Career Support, etc.). This position is 30 hours per week and eligible for benefits.

  • Provide person-centered services & supports related to employment services (general and art focused) to assist each person in reaching their highest degree of independence possible.
  • Provide both virtual and in-person services depending on preferences of person served.
  • Support people in making informed choices for competitive, integrated employment, including self-employment, that are aligned with the person's long-range goals and available jobs in the market.
  • Work in cooperation with support team members to develop, document, and implement employment plans that are aligned with the person's interests, preferences, and abilities.
  • Maintain documentation that meets requirements.
  • Provide training, assistance, service, and materials necessary to a successful job or opportunity search.
  • Provide on-the-job training and coaching to ensure the person supported is comfortable in their position and performing the necessary job duties.
  • Develop employment plans for persons served requiring long-term employment support services to maintain employment.
  • Provide vocational counseling for assigned caseload. Make referrals to appropriate agencies for supplemental services as needed.
  • Maintain up-to-date files for assigned caseload. Ensure all program records are accurate and completed in a timely manner.
  • Meet targeted goal for billable hours of service.

Requirements

Must have excellent customer service, team-building, and time management skills. Must be able to work both independently and in a team setting. Must have strong oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to follow oral and written instructions. Must have basic computer skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) skills.

Must possess the education and experience necessary to provide quality services and meet the Designated Coordinator standards under 245D:

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to human services, plus one year of work experience providing direct care for people with disabilities; or
  • Associate's degree in a field related to human services plus two years of work experience providing direct care for people with disabilities; or
  • A diploma in a field related to human services from an accredited post-secondary institution plus three years of work experience providing direct care for people with disabilities; or
  • A minimum of 50 hours of education and training related to human services and four years of full-time work experience providing direct care services to people with disabilities under the supervision of a staff person who meets the qualifications above.

Must be able to pass a Department of Human Services background check and a criminal background check. Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable as determined by our insurance company. Must be able to provide own transportation.

The pay rate for this position is $22 - $24/hour based on experience.
