Morris & Ritchie Associates, Inc. (MRA) is seeking a talented Landscape Architect/Designer with 5–8+ years of experience, with strength in high-level detailed design, for our Towson, Maryland office. The ideal candidate is a creative and technically strong designer with expertise in master planning, site planning, and the development of refined, buildable landscape architectural solutions. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional who wants to take on increased responsibility in a collaborative environment poised for significant growth, serving as a key contributor in helping lead design and shape the future of the practice. The successful candidate will collaborate with MRA’s landscape architects, architects, and engineers across the Mid-Atlantic region on a broad range of dynamic projects.
Landscape Architect Responsibilities will include:
· Prepare planning documents (from concept – thru refinement and jurisdictional submission) of large-scale mixed use, commercial use, K-12 mater planning, master planned communities, and public space developments.
· Prepare detailed site planning and feasibility studies for all asset classes (residential, retail, office, commerce, hospitality, environmental, park, recreation, institutional, educational etc.).
· Prepare construction documentation for permit packages including site, grading, open space, forest conservation, pattern books, landscape, details, variances and cost estimates for Baltimore City & various Maryland counties.
· Develop landscape architectural design and detailing for a variety of land development components such as monumental entrances, streetscapes, clubhouses/community centers, playgrounds, plazas, courtyards, pocket parks, hiking trails etc.
· Actively participate in industry and professional associations such as ASLA, APA, or ULI.
· Participate in meetings with clients, stakeholders, and governing bodies, while also writing reports, technical memos, and letters.
· Support project management by providing attention to scheduling, budgets, deliverables and construction services.
· Work in close partnership with practice leadership as a strategic partner, supporting departmental leadership, guiding production teams, and helping shape and delivering the department’s long-term vision, performance objectives, and growth strategy.
· Attend learning sessions and industry meetings to stay current with design, technology and practice trends.
Requirements
Landscape Architect Requirements will include:
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in landscape architecture from an accredited university.
· Licensed Professional Landscape Architect not required, but a plus.
· Certified Planner (AICP) not required, but a plus.
· 5-8 years of experience in planning and landscape architectural design.
· Familiarity with local jurisdictional requirements from comprehensive plans, to zoning codes, to detailed subdivision, landscape, and signage regulations/guidelines, including the ability to help craft modifications to these documents.
· Excellent written, graphic, diagrammatic and oral presentation communication skills.
· Fluency in AutoCAD (Civil 3D, Land F/X), MS Office Suite, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign), and 3D modeling software (Revit, SketchUp, or Rhino)
· The ability to collect, organize, and present data in creative ways to team members and clients.
· Experience in private sector projects, public sector is a plus.
Experience in environmental documentation related to Forest Conservation Act and the ability to perform field assessments, data collection, and site analysis outdoors which includes travel and the potential to be on your feet for hours.
