Position Overview

Wantable is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Sewer/Apparel Quality Control to join our Fulfillment Center team. This is a hands-on role for someone who genuinely enjoys garment construction, tailoring, and working with apparel every day.

What You’ll Do:

Garment Repair & Restoration

• Perform high-quality repairs on returned or damaged garments to restore them to sellable condition.
• Sew, reconstruct, clean, and finish garments.
• Execute precise repairs including seam reconstruction, hemming, zipper replacement, button attachment, and trim repair.
• Ensure all restored items meet Wantable’s quality and appearance standards before re-entering inventory.

Quality Evaluation & Decision-Making

• Inspect returned and damaged merchandise to determine recoverability.
• Verify defects, assess construction issues, and determine appropriate resolution (repair, rework, escalation).
• Identify patterns in vendor defects and recurring quality concerns.
• Maintain documentation of quality findings and repair outcomes.

Technical Expertise

• Operate and maintain sewing equipment including:
• Single needle
• Overlock
• Coverstitch
• Additional production machinery as needed
• Interpret garment construction and construction methods to ensure structural integrity during repairs.
• Handle a variety of fabrics and trims with care and precision.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with QC Lead & Merchandising to communicate vendor quality issues and trends.
• Collaborate with Operations leadership to uphold merchandise handling best practices.
• Provide feedback and recommendations to improve garment durability and reduce future defects.

Workflow & Workspace Management

• Manage workload efficiently to meet productivity goals.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workstation.
• Follow all safety and operational protocols within the fulfillment center.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For:

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Strong technical sewing skills with experience using industrial sewing machines.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently in a production environment.
• Effective communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in garment production, tailoring, alterations, or apparel quality control.
• Experience in a warehouse or fulfillment center setting.
• Knowledge of garment construction and textile behavior.

Schedule & Availability:

• Full-time and part-time opportunities available.

Physical Requirements:

Manual Dexterity & Coordination

• Frequent use of hands and fingers for sewing, pinning, cutting, and handling small tools and fabrics.
• Repetitive hand and wrist movements operating sewing machinery.

Visual Requirements

• Ability to inspect stitch quality, fabric construction, color variation, and overall garment integrity.

Posture & Mobility

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
• Occasional reaching, bending, and movement throughout the work area.
• Occasional lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment

• Fulfillment center setting with moderate machinery noise.
• Exposure to ironing equipment, fabric particles, and temperature variations typical of production environments.
• Fast-paced, production-oriented environment requiring focus and accuracy.
