Overview: This Position, located in St. James, Louisiana, reports to the Reliability and Improvement Engineering Manager and will work a 9/80 schedule. Off-hours support will be required on occasion based on Plant Operational needs.
The successful candidate must have a depth of knowledge of Site Electrical and Instrumentation functions and Needs. This individual must also be able to communicate and coordinate between Reliability and other Work Groups, including Maintenance, Operations, Capital, and Environmental, to enhance workflow, personnel safety and Environmental Stewardship. Enhanced responsibilities will be required during periods of production disruption
Primary Responsibilities:
Communicate with Entergy and with the plant on Electrical concerns and plans
Provide an electrical cost estimate and reconcile twice per month
Interface with Entergy on repairs to the Welcome substation
Maintain Standards and Codes to keep the plant Compliant
Participate in updating Electrical Safety Standard for the St. James plant
Assist in Troubleshooting electrical system issues/instrumentation issues
Key participant for projects that will make changes to the electrical system
Lead or participate in incident investigations on electrical issues
Participate/Lead in planning of electrical infrastructure outages and repairs (Scope of work, lock out tag out strategies, Prevention of powering back feeding, etc.)
Other Electrical Work
Ensure that Short Circuit / Arc Flash calculations are updated every 5 years
Participate in planning the repair of ESRA concerns
Ensure that all site changes include proper updates to the electrical drawings, schematics, one line and three-line diagrams, fuse coordination studies among others.
Lead or participate in relay setting changes
Interface with electrical contractors
Develop MOC’s for electrical/instrument changes in the plant.
Develop metrics for reliability for electrical and instrument systems
Manage compliance action items for electrical / instrument systems
Collaborate with others to develop and address Bad Actors for electrical / instrumentation
Instrumentation
Develop Predictive PMs for Instrument and Electrical items
Lead the development and implementation of Best Industry Practices for electrical / instrument systems
Develop Equipment Maintenance Strategies for electrical / instrument systems.
Be a Reliability Representative in capital projects for electrical Projects
Analyzes asset utilization and cost data to develop and prioritize a list of reliability opportunities.
Reviews and applies specifications and designs for electrical power systems.
Develop and implement operating discipline that will improve reliability.
Job Requirements:
BS degree in Electrical Engineering with at least 3 years chemical plant/refinery experience
Unwavering focus on safely performing work and following compliance rules, codes and regulations
Ability to work as a team lead and/or team participant.
Ability to make critical decisions and solve problems.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to effectively participate on cross functional teams.
Must have a valid TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Card) or be able to secure one within 30 days.
Desired Skills/Experience:
Familiar with NEC, NFPA 70/70B/70B, NEMA and IEEE codes and standards.

Relocation is not available with this position.
