Site Controller
Location: St. Lawrence County, NY (Fully On-site)
Relocation: Comprehensive assistance available
Our client are seeking a hands-on, operationally-focused Site Controller to lead the financial functions of a rapidly growing mining operation in Northern New York. This is a newly approved role created to support a high-grade mining site and an emerging graphite project currently in the demonstration and qualification phase.
Unlike a typical "corporate" role, this position is embedded directly at the mine site. You will own the accounting and financial reporting functions end-to-end, providing critical data to a tight-knit, long-tenured leadership team. A major driver for this role is our client's upcoming ERP selection and implementation; you will play a lead role in evaluating, selecting, and driving the transition to an integrated financial system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Leadership: Own month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close; prepare financial statements and regulatory filings in accordance with IFRS and U.S. GAAP.
- FP&A Ownership: Lead budgeting and forecasting across P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and headcount management.
- Operational Accounting: Oversee cost accounting, inventory cycle counting accuracy, and capital project spend tracking (including fixed asset capitalization).
- Systems Transformation: Act as the project lead for selecting and implementing a fully integrated ERP system tailored to an industrial/manufacturing environment.
- Compliance & Audit: Implement and maintain internal controls (SOX); lead internal and external audit processes.
- Continuous Improvement: Partner with operating departments to identify efficiencies and translate financial data into actionable insights for site managers.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as a financial leader, ideally within a public company environment.
- Industry Background: Proven experience in mining, industrial, or manufacturing sectors.
- Technical Systems: Expert proficiency in QuickBooks and advanced Excel (this is a hands-on role requiring deep technical ability).
- ERP Implementation: Prior experience credibly leading or influencing the selection and implementation of an ERP system.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of IFRS accounting regulations, U.S. GAAP, internal controls/SOX, and tax/transfer pricing.
- Project Management: Experience with construction project management and agile/lean practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA designation.
- Ability to work in a collaborative, non-corporate, on-site environment.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to operate independently once onboarded.
