Your role and responsibilities
As a Senior Engineering Manager within Vault leading the Agentic Vault initiative, you will lead the team responsible for evolving our flagship security product to enable our customers to use agents securely at scale.
Strategic Execution: Drive the technical vision for how our core platform handles the explosion of Non-Human Identities (NHI), ensuring we stay ahead of the shift toward autonomous, agent-driven infrastructure.
High-Stakes Leadership: Mentor and scale a team of senior engineers focused on deep-tier infrastructure, fostering a culture of rigorous security design and high-velocity delivery. * Global Leadership: Lead teams based out of North America and India.
Stakeholder Alignment: Work closely with Product and Architecture to translate market needs into scalable, secure, and maintainable code.
Systemic Reliability: Ensure the product can support the rigorous uptime and performance requirements of automated systems that rely on real-time, delegated authentication.
Future-Proofing: Lead the team in exploring and adopting emerging industry standards to ensure our identity services remain the universal authority across multi-cloud and hybrid environments.
Leaders are expected to spend time with their teams and clients and therefore are generally expected to be in the workplace a minimum of three days a week subject to business needs.
Required technical and professional expertise
Engineering Leadership: Deep experience leading teams of 15+ engineers, with a track record of shipping complex, enterprise-grade infrastructure at scale.
Modern Identity Standards: Deep fluency in the "alphabet soup" of modern identity—specifically OIDC, OAuth 2.0, and SPIFFE/SPIRE—and how they apply to machine-to-machine communication.
Scale & Performance: Experience building distributed systems that handle high-volume, short-lived credentials where latency is a critical failure point.
Security Mindset: A background in Zero Trust principles, with a specific focus on Just-in-Time (JIT) access and minimizing the blast radius of compromised workloads.
Infrastructure-as-Code & Automation: Deep understanding of how automated agents interact with cloud infrastructure and the unique security challenges posed by autonomous actors.
Extensibility: Experience building and maintaining plugin-based architectures or SDKs that allow for broad ecosystem integration.
Communication: Exceptional ability to articulate complex security concepts to both technical contributors and executive leadership.
Preferred technical and professional experience
-
Identity Innovation: Experience contributing to or implementing emerging standards for Non-Human Identity (NHI) and machine-first authorization frameworks.
-
Autonomous Systems Experience: Familiarity with the security challenges inherent in AI agent orchestration, LLM-based workflows, or autonomous robotic process automation (RPA).
Dynamic Governance: Background in building automated policy-as-code engines or real-time remediation systems that respond to behavioral anomalies.
Hardware-Rooted Security: Conceptual or practical knowledge of hardware-backed trust anchors, such as Trusted Platform Modules (TPM) or Secure Enclaves, for workload attestation.
Ecosystem Influence: Previous experience engaging with open-source security communities or standards bodies to help shape the future of digital identity.
