Job Purpose:
We are seeking a Gardener to join our vibrant team and help us to spread the joy of gardening! If you're passionate about gardening, take pride in maintaining beautiful outdoor spaces, and want to create a living demonstration that inspires gardeners everywhere, we would love to have you on our team!
Essential Responsibilities:
- Maintain and design an educational showcase garden for Vego Garden products.
- Plant, cultivate, and harvest a variety of plants using horticultural techniques including transplantation, propagation, fertilization, irrigation, pruning, staking, and seed starting.
- Proactively prepare gardens and property for seasonal changes through mulching, soil amendment, leaf removal, seasonal planting, and winterization.
- Remove trash, weeds, and plant debris to maintain clean and organized garden grounds.
- Maintain walkways, fences, irrigation systems, trees, patio areas, outdoor structures and outdoor furniture.
- Operate and maintain garden equipment and machinery (e.g., mowers, trimmers, blowers).
- Feed and care for farm animals such as chickens, ducks, and bees.
- Support special projects and community events at various locations as needed.
- Install products, garden beds, and landscape features on the grounds.
- Comply with Company policies and procedures.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 1+ year of experience in gardening work, including planting, cultivating, and caring for plants and shrubs.
- Working knowledge of a variety of plants, plant materials, and grounds maintenance is a must.
- Understanding of soil health, composting, and organic fertilization techniques.
- Experience operating lawn and garden machinery, tools, and equipment.
- Basic animal husbandry experience preferred (poultry and/or beekeeping).
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Customer-oriented, prompt, and friendly.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Physical Demands:
This position involves working outdoors in a farm setting. Must be able to perform diverse, sometimes repetitive, tasks that can be physically demanding, including kneeling, bending, stooping, and reaching. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Exposure to outdoor environments including hot and cold temperatures and humidity.
Job Location and Work Schedule:
- This is a full-time, on-site position.
- 22503 Lain Road, Spring, TX 77377.
- Monday through Friday.
- 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Lunch break 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm.
