Our projects are typically for marine, oil & gas, defense, civil (movable bridges) and industrial power unit applications. The Drafter is responsible for producing drawings in support of SIT operations. This may consist of producing drawings for parts, assemblies, and other fabrications.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Use AutoCAD to produce 2-dimensional drawings.
  • Use SolidWorks to produce 3-dimensional models and drawings.
  • Create well detailed structural and mechanical drawings.
  • Develop and produce drawing deliverables that are clear and accurate, including drawings, written reports, and/or work instructions, in a timely fashion.
  • Create 2-dimensional cross sections and orthographic views.
  • Create drawings based on hand drawn sketches.
  • Create/update drawing blocks.
  • Use measuring tools such as calipers, tape measure etc. to retrieve field measurements.
  • Perform “as-built” dimensional surveys and prepare legible field sketches and notes.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Supervise and mentor other drafters.
  • Support and participate in the organization’s continual improvement program to conform to ISO 9001 and understand the implications of not complying with the quality management system.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and Training:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certificate of Proficiency in Drafting.
  • SolidWorks course completion certificate from a certified SolidWorks instructor is preferred but not required.

Experience:

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of drafting experience.
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001 environment a plus.

Desired Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to visualize orthographic views and drawing projections.
  • Ability to use AutoCAD and SolidWorks programs at a professional level.
  • Ability to read drawings and fully comprehend the content thereof.
  • Aptitude and attitude to continue learning and developing design knowledge, including the ability to adapt to new software releases.
  • Ability to follow department-established work instructions and practices
  • Aptitude and attitude to communicate with Drafting Supervisor and engineers/clients in order to execute assigned tasks with efficiency.
  • Ability to pursue, plan, and organize assigned task based on prioritizing decisions by Drafting Supervisor.
  • Willing to consider and apply new ideas while using standards and procedures applicable to the area of responsibility under supervision.
  • Able to develop the working relationship through effective communication by positively and proactively contributing to the project team, offering support and encouragement to others, establishing sound working relationships among team members, being flexible in own behavior to complement the strengths of others, and asking questions to clarify understanding.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
