VHA supports and provides medical care for VA’s eligible beneficiaries through the VA health program, which includes VA Medical Centers (VAMCs) and contracted health care networks. The Office of Clinical Informatics within the Office of Health Informatics (OHI), Digital Health Office (DHO) advances the enterprise standard of care and patient experience using improved data, tools, and informatics processes organized around continuously delivering value to its customers. This is achieved through Lean-Agile delivery of clinical practice solutions that support best practice standards for clinical care. OHI is further responsible for ensuring the success of the modernized VA EHR, Oracle Health Millennium/Cerner through continuous exploration, integration, deployment and release on demand of Integrated Health Technology (IHT) solutions. These efforts aim to increase Veterans' access to care and support their active participation in their healthcare. Gritter Francona is looking for a Principle Agilist to help support a potential project to assist this objective.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise SAFe® Leadership

  • Lead and oversee all SAFe® transformation initiatives across OCI, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy, business outcomes, and operational priorities.
  • Serve as the enterprise authority on SAFe®, Lean-Agile mindset, and Agile product delivery.
  • Act as the primary change leader driving sustained Agile adoption across portfolios, value streams, and Agile Release Trains (ARTs).

Transformation Strategy & Execution

  • Define, implement, and continuously evolve OCI’s SAFe® transformation roadmap, maturity model, and success metrics.
  • Guide large, complex organizations through multi-year SAFe® transformations, balancing speed, quality, and organizational readiness.
  • Ensure consistent application of Lean-Agile principles to improve flow, predictability, quality, and time-to-market.

Leadership & Team Enablement

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the SAFe® transformation team, including SPCs, RTEs, Agile Coaches, and transformation practitioners.
  • Empower leaders, managers, and teams to adopt servant leadership and build high-performing, self-organizing Agile teams.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, relentless improvement, and psychological safety.

Executive Advisory & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner closely with executive leadership, portfolio management, and business stakeholders to align Agile execution with enterprise objectives.
  • Provide expert coaching to senior leaders on Lean-Agile leadership behaviors, organizational design, and value-based decision-making.
  • Communicate transformation progress, risks, and outcomes with clarity and transparency.

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Establish enterprise standards, governance, and best practices that enable agility while supporting compliance and operational rigor.
  • Measure and improve business agility using actionable metrics and data-driven insights.
  • Identify and remove systemic impediments that limit organizational performance and value delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Must be a Certified SAFe® Practice Consultant (SPC)
  • Minimum of 20 years of experience developing complex IT solutions
  • Minimum 10 years of experience leading SAFe® transformations within large, complex organizations.
