Description
The Irrigation Assistant Supervisor plays a critical leadership role in the successful execution of all irrigation services within the Landscape Maintenance (LM) Division. This position supports the Irrigation Manager in planning, supervising, and delivering high-quality irrigation maintenance and repair services while developing field staff and protecting company standards for safety, efficiency, and client satisfaction.
This role is ideal for a hands-on irrigation professional who leads by example, understands commercial irrigation systems in depth, and takes ownership of results.
The Irrigation Assistant Supervisor reports directly to the Irrigation Manager and helps oversee a team of 8–10 Irrigation Technicians.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities & Core Functions
1. Planning & Execution
· Work closely with the Irrigation Manager to plan daily and weekly operations that support division goals.
· Assist in scheduling crews, allocating resources, creating repair proposals, and prioritizing work to meet contractual obligations and service timelines.
2. Supervision & Leadership
· Supervise irrigation technicians with a strong focus on safety, quality workmanship, service, productivity, and professionalism.
· Provide technical guidance, coaching, and direct support to develop team capabilities.
· Hold team members accountable to company standards and expectations.
3. Technical Expertise (“Know Your Trade”)
· Demonstrate strong working knowledge of commercial irrigation systems, including:
o Monitoring and troubleshooting systems (traditional and two-wire systems)
o Repairs and retrofits
o Valve locating and hydraulic diagnostics
o Controller replacement and programming
o Wiring and electrical troubleshooting
· Serve as a technical resource for the field team.
4. Communication & Coordination
· Communicate clearly and proactively with the Irrigation Manager, Client Relations Managers, Enhancement Managers, LM Managers, and clients as needed.
· Provide timely updates on job progress, issues, staffing needs, and material requirements.
5. Property Knowledge & Performance Tracking
· Maintain a working knowledge of each assigned property, including contract specifications, irrigation schedules, and service frequencies.
· Track estimated versus actual labor hours, materials, and job performance.
· Support accurate recordkeeping and reporting
