Job Summary:  Owls in this role provide company-level guidance on product throughout the various development stages. Oversees Owlchemy product teams and assigned products, responsible for the health and growth of owned products and supporting Live Services for the lifetime of the game(s).

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with C-suite leadership, production, design, and engineering teams to align product goals with the overall company vision.
  • Define and execute a comprehensive product strategy for our live service title, focusing on long-term engagement, retention,  and monetization.
  • Utilize data analytics, user feedback and creative direction to inform product decisions, optimize features, and identify new opportunities.
  • Oversee the live operations cadence, ensuring a steady stream of content updates, events, and features that keep the community engaged. 
  • Coordinate with studio leadership to make sure production ramifications of decisions from all disciplines are considered. 
  • Lead teams across disciplines from a production standpoint: effectively prioritize tasks, identify dependencies and remove blockers.
  • Support the Production team with clear direction throughout development including defining priority of features and milestones.
  • Partner closely with the Customer Support team to ensure player feedback and support data are systematically assessed, addressed in development cycles, and key drivers in product development decisions.
  • Partner closely with the Marketing team to ensure alignment on goals and production timelines, incorporating Marketing insights on player feedback and sales performance into product strategy.
  • Take the lead role in supporting Live Services projects throughout their lifetimes.
  • Maintain communication of progress and goals across all teams at Owlchemy.
  • Guide team to update and maintain documentation of product and development practices, including development processes, art style, and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure product goals are being met, from gameplay and content to stylistic coherence. 
  • Manage other Owls, providing professional development support, mentorship, and performance feedback.
  • Keep informed on the market landscape and stay ahead of industry trends \to ensure Owlchemy products remain competitive and innovative in the VR space.

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Clear and proactive communicator across all disciplines and levels 
  • Detail-oriented, thoughtful, and deeply aware of dependencies across systems and schedules
  • Strong strategic mindset with the ability to translate high-level vision into actionable roadmaps
  • Proficiency in data analysis and the ability to derive actionable insights from complex datasets
  • Deep understanding of free-to-play and premium monetization mechanics, economy design, and user psychology
  • Highly organized and capable of organizing others
  • Great conflict resolution and soft skills
  • Able to mentor and contribute to career growth of other Owls

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Clear understanding of game production pipelines
  • At least 1 shipped title made with Unity
  • 3+ years professional Unity engine experience
  • 3+ years experience with Google Workspace
  • 5+ years experience supporting a Live Service game
  • 10+ years industry experience 

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Management experience
  • 3+ years Jira, Notion and Miro experience
  • Appreciation of puns (or at least the ability to groan at them)

Physical Requirements: 

  • Owls must be able to use virtual reality headsets but are not expected to own one.

Position Salary: 

  • Salary range for this role is $130,000 - $160,000 USD/year

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: 

This is a full-time, work from home, 40-hours per week position. Core hours of work are Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. CT. 

Travel:

For Owls working outside of the Austin, TX area, travel to Austin may be required 4 to 6 times per year.
