Oasis Ascent is a short-term residential treatment program for teenagers in Provo, Utah. Families we serve are in crisis and need support keeping their children safe right now. At Oasis Ascent, we provide thorough assessment, around-the-clock secure care, and intensive support to young people. We offer a safe environment for adolescents to stabilize while they and their families work with licensed clinicians to determine the underlying causes of distress and what next steps will best meet their needs.
As a Cook at Oasis Ascent, you will play a vital role in fostering healthy relationships and promoting wellness through nutritious and flavorful meals. Your contributions will assist in stabilizing the emotional and physical health of our students. Collaboration with our larger team in providing integrated care services—including dietary support—will enhance the healing experience and enrich students’ lives while they are with us.
Responsibilities:
- Arrive on time, in proper uniform, maintaining a clean and professional appearance
- Follow all food safety and sanitation standards (handwashing, gloves, FIFO, labeling, sanitizing)
- Set up and maintain a clean, stocked, and service-ready station (“Mise en Place”)
- Prepare food safely, including proper use of knives and cut-resistant gloves when required
- Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas, equipment, and surfaces throughout the shift
- Properly store, handle, thaw, and rotate food products according to safety guidelines
- Communicate shortages, equipment issues, or safety concerns immediately
- Ensure cafeteria areas are stocked, clean, and ready for service
- Adhere strictly to portion control and snack quantity guidelines
- Use approved equipment (e.g., hot boxes) for transporting food
- Complete end-of-shift cleaning, shutdown, and security procedures
- Follow break and meal period policies as scheduled
- Maintain a phone-free work environment during service times

Requirements
Please ensure your resume includes education, work experience, certifications, and licenses
- 1 year experience in food service or cooking preferred.
- Current Utah Food Handler's Permit & / OR ServSafe (may obtain after accepting job offer)
- Obtain easily here or anywhere approved by the State of Utah
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Able to pass pre-employment drug screen.
- Able to pass criminal investigation background check.
- Able to pass motor vehicle record check (if applicable).
- Current Utah driver's license (within 30 days of employment).
- First Aid & CPR certified (we may provide).
- Working knowledge of computers.
