Description
The Greenridge Group is a prime contractor and consulting firm specializing in Project and Construction Management for major public-sector agencies.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager to lead the design of school upgrade and critical repair projects across the District. In this role, you will guide architects and consultants from concept through final approval and construction handoff, ensuring designs meet District standards, regulatory requirements, budgets, and educational needs
Salary Range: $185K/Year-$210K/Year - Dependent on Candidate's Qualifications
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and direct design activities for school upgrade and critical repair projects
- Serve as the primary design interface with the Division of the State Architect (DSA)
- Manage and coordinate the District’s design process to ensure alignment with functional programs, budgets, environmental standards, and legal requirements
- Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, working with architects, consultants, and District staff from concept through final approval and handoff to Project Execution
- Ensure building designs comply with LAUSD standards, educational requirements, and applicable building codes
- Establish and manage processes for selecting architectural firms based on qualifications and performance
- Provide clear, consistent direction to architects regarding scope, schedule, budget, site conditions, and project objectives
- Lead an effective design review process that delivers high value, long-term functionality, and sustainability
- Ensure timely decision-making and thorough documentation throughout the design process
- Review design changes to confirm projects remain within approved budgets
- Participate in community outreach and engagement related to District building projects
- Coordinate with internal departments including Environmental Health & Safety, A/E Design Services, Maintenance & Operations, School Occupancy, Asbestos Technical Units, and Local Districts
- Support professional development through design-related seminars and workshops
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Experience
- 15 years of full-time professional experience managing facilities design or coordinating capital projects
- Experience must include overall design management, contract administration, cost estimating, and scheduling
- At least 5 years of experience specifically with K-12 educational facilities
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Engineering
- Master’s degree in Architecture or Engineering is preferred
Licensure
- California-licensed Architect or Professional Engineer
