Key Responsibilities
- Assign and oversee field projects handled by Supervisors.
- Monitor schedules, budgets, and customer expectations.
- Identify potential issues and coordinate solutions to keep projects on track.
- Conduct regular site visits for support and oversight.
- Reinforce safety, quality, and DOT compliance across all activities.
- Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to Supervisors and field employees.
- Assist with forecasts for staffing, equipment, and resource planning.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and regulatory agencies.
- Participate in hiring, training, and performance evaluations.
- Ensure accurate submission of project reports, payroll data, labor hours, and related documentation.
- Support equipment readiness, maintenance planning, and coordination with shop personnel.
- Attend customer meetings, industry events, and opportunities to support business development.
- Respond to emergency service calls and provide hands-on support as needed.
Trailer & Operator Requirements (Critical)
- Strong experience operating specialty trailers (e.g., Faymonville, Goldhofer).
- Ability to troubleshoot trailer issues remotely or on-site.
- Experience with similar trailer brands (Kamag, Scheuerle, etc.) highly valued.
- Candidates familiar with one major trailer brand can typically adapt quickly to others.
- Experience at both field-operator and supervisory levels preferred.
Industry Experience
- Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in a related heavy equipment, transportation, or railroad environment.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, including overweight/oversized load permitting.
- Understanding of FRA regulations, safety requirements, and field operations.
Technical Skills
- Ability to operate cranes, trucks, trailers, backhoes, excavators, and similar equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret crane load charts.
- Solid understanding of rigging equipment and freight car components.
- Proficiency in MS Office and ability to learn job-specific software systems.
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; Class A or B CDL preferred.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Must meet 24/7 on-call availability, including weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to report within one hour during on-call periods.
- Must pass required safety and qualification programs.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work on uneven surfaces and in all weather conditions.
- Extended hours and overnight travel required.
- Assistance required for lifting items over 75 lbs.
