In this role, you are responsible for day-to-day interactions with assigned new and existing customers who are looking to develop new hardware platform offerings with AHEAD. You are directly responsible for working with the Specialist Solutions Engineering team to determine customers’ hardware and service requirements and then architecting and presenting specific hardware systems and services that meet each customer’s needs. You will focus on system design and performance, product lifecycle management, system regulatory compliance, system verification services, system deployment services, and other technical aspects of customers’ programs as requested. You are also directly responsible for tasks assigned by the Manager, Specialist Solutions Engineering, and the Specialist Solutions Engineering team.
Responsibilities:
Collaborating with both our Specialty Sales Engineers, Regional Sales Specialist and Account Management teams in assisting with onboarding new accounts, recommending hardware configurations, identifying best matched services, and finding solutions for potentially complex business requirements.
Daily tasks include activities such as creating part numbers, collaborating systems designs, ensuring that hardware designs meet all of the product requirements, and preparing customer-facing proposals and technical highlights.
Help design reference platforms for specific vertical segments.
Build BOMs with L9 partners such as Supermicro and Dell
Draft statements of work and quotes for engineering services such as mechanical design, thermal testing, acoustic testing, and custom scripting.
Presenting and solution-selling hardware recommendations and services to key decision makers.
Collaborate with our Project Management and Manufacturing Engineering teams to on-board hardware configurations into production.
Building ongoing relationships with key technical contacts within assigned accounts.
Building and developing relationships with key industry technology vendor partners.
Take on daily assignments from Specialty Sales Engineers.
Back up the Specialty Sales Engineers team when they are traveling or on PTO.
Manage and maintain product requirements and documentation when requested.
Qualifications:
Solid knowledge of computer systems, servers, and hardware design.
Working knowledge of computer architectures, hardware components, storage, networking, and various hardware industry standards, as well as L9 partners such as Supermicro and Dell
Well versed in technical terms such as RAID, NVMe, IPMI, GPU, TPM, and other terminology in common parlance.
A high-level understanding of server rack enclosures, PDU input and output power, KVMs, and rack cooling.
Comfortable and skilled at building rapport with and maintaining solid customer relationships.
A strong curiosity for new ideas and a passion for learning new things.
Excellent communications skills including written, verbal and face-to-face.
A basic understanding of regulatory certifications and safety testing for electronic equipment.
Understanding system verification testing services for acoustic, thermal, power consumption, performance, and packaging.
Understanding design services for bezels and custom parts, cables, scripting, and BIOS customizations.
Understanding deployment services like custom image creation, driver compilation, production fixtures, and custom hardware tests.
Proven experience understanding, gathering, and documenting customer requirements.
Bachelor's degree and/or 7+ years of related experience
