The Senior Finance Manager – US will be our first senior Finance hire in-country, playing a pivotal role in standing up our US entity and shaping its success.  This is a hands-on, high-impact generalist position covering financial operations, group reporting, payroll & tax compliance.

You will be part of the Global Finance Team, reporting into the VP Finance in the UK, and collaborating with the wider Finance team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own all US entity financial reporting and compliance, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local and group accounting policies.
  • Maintain the general ledger, post journal entries, and complete month-end close activities (accruals, payroll entries, intercompany transactions).
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and financial reports for consolidation into UK parent company for group reporting.
  • Input into the annual budgeting process for the US entity operations.
  • Manage the treasury operations for the US entity including cashflow forecasting and payment processing (Vendors and payroll).
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure compliance with US federal, state, and local tax requirements including preparation of the corporate income tax returns
  • Working with the US PEO and the people team, manage the US payroll activities
  • Support external group audits as required
  • Manage accounts payable, expense management and purchasing workflows.
  • Proactive support to senior leaders in the US to support the operations of the business. 
  • Provide financial guidance on hiring plans, compensation, vendor negotiations, capital expenditure, and site operations.
  • Implement and enforce Company policies on travel, expenses and other areas of spending after localizing as appropriate. Ensure policies and procedures are appropriate as the US entity grows,
  • In conjunction with UK implement and keep current Insurance policies as appropriate for local needs within the US entity. 
  • Act as the financial liaison to the UK Group Finance team, offering clear communication and analytical support.

 

Candidate Profile

  • Qualified Accountant with 8+ years of prior experience ideally working in a similar role in a scaling engineering / technology environment
  • Experienced in the use of finance systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a bonus), extracting and manipulating data and excellent IT skills including MS Office suite.
  • Ability to work independently as the sole member of the finance function in the US with remote support from group finance function in the UK.
  • Experience working with or for an international HQ is preferred.
  • Experience in managing external relationships with service providers (e.g. payroll, tax)
  • Proven ability to manage workflows, prioritise effectively, and deliver high-quality outcomes under time pressure. 
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across cultures and time zones. 
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and change – able to build structure while scaling rapidly.  
  • Exposure to setting up or supporting new entities or international offices.
