Requirements of the Position:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification in ophthalmic/optometric assisting strongly preferred
- Prior experience as an ophthalmic or optometric technician required
- Supervisory or leadership experience in a clinical environment preferred
- Strong understanding of ophthalmic/optometric procedures, diagnostic testing, and equipment
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems preferred; strong Windows computer skills required

Responsibilities of the Position:
- Supervise ophthalmic/optometric technicians and support staff in daily clinical operations, assigning tasks, monitor workflow, and ensure staff coverage throughout the clinic
- Provide ongoing coaching, support, and performance feedback to staff
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and disciplinary processes as needed
- Train staff on clinical procedures, equipment use, safety protocols, and patient interaction standards
- Ensure staff maintain required competencies and certifications
- Oversee pre-testing procedures, diagnostic testing, and clinical support activities to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Ensure all clinical protocols are followed and updated as needed
- Monitor and support workflow efficiency to reduce patient wait times and provider downtime
- Maintain compliance with regulatory guidelines, infection control standards, and clinic policies
- Conduct periodic audits of technician performance, documentation accuracy, and equipment maintenance
- Ensure all ophthalmic equipment is properly cleaned, calibrated, and maintained
- Monitor inventory of supplies and medications, ensuring appropriate stock levels
- Assist with patient questions, concerns, or escalations in a professional and supportive manner and promote a positive patient experience
- Communicate clearly with providers regarding patient flow, staffing needs, and operational updates
