Why Your Role Matters
Our Volleyball lessons focus on building fundamental skills, teamwork, coordination, and overall athletic development. The Y offers volleyball programs for players ranging from beginners to competitive levels. As a Volleyball Instructor, you teach students confidence, discipline, communication, and court awareness. Most importantly, you show them that volleyball is exciting, empowering, and fun!
How You Will Make an Impact
- Set up and take down volleyball equipment as needed, including nets, balls, and court markers.
- Ensure the court is never left unattended with equipment set up.
- Lead dynamic warm-ups as assigned by the supervisor.
- Teach age-appropriate volleyball skills as outlined in the curriculum (serving, passing, setting, hitting, etc.).
- Monitor appropriate class placement and conduct skill evaluations for current and potential players.
- Communicate with parents and guardians as needed regarding progress or concerns.
- Maintain necessary records to track attendance in classes.
- Render first aid as needed and complete required paperwork for incidents and accidents.
- Maintain and champion a safe environment on the court at all times.
- Lead by example while upholding the Y's mission, vision, and values with participants, members, staff, and guests.
- Serve as an Ambassador of the Y’s work and culture, sharing the story of who we are as an organization and brand.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Y
- Minimum of 16 years old.
- Background in volleyball (club, school team, recreational leagues, or coaching).
- Instructor or coaching experience preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certifications preferred or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.

Physical Requirements:
The role requires the ability to stand, walk, and move continuously for extended periods while demonstrating tennis techniques and quick movements. The instructor must be capable of lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 25 pounds and have the stamina to conduct multiple coaching sessions, often outdoors in various weather conditions. Strong visual and auditory abilities are essential to ensure participant safety and respond quickly to any incidents. Additionally, the role may involve bending, kneeling, and reaching to support drills and assist players as needed. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
