Job Description Summary:
Responsible for managing business development, strategic planning and sales for focus market segments within Display Electronics. Sales Specialist responsible for managing sales for relevant territories across India including several states having large concentration of Display Electronics Manufacturing.
Job Responsibilities:
Position is intended for individuals who are experienced in sales in electronics manufacturing (ideally display electronics) and related tiers. Individuals must be able to achieve sales objectives by generating and converting incremental sales opportunities of assigned or new accounts within assigned territory or assigned vertical. Primarily, manages sales territory with periodic supervision and assistance. When necessary, requests or receives assistance in handling situations which require either greater or different experience or knowledge as needed. The individual must demonstrate effective use of selling skills and have consistently achieved or exceeded forecast over a sustained period of time.
Job responsibilities for this role are as follows:
- Key focus areas are account identification, account penetration/distribution, area coverage, business model establishment, spec-in for existing and new products, leading and influencing, competitive intelligence and complaint handling, customer insights, new product ideas, customer training
- Map out the key customers under the Display Electronics ecosystem across India
- To better understand the sales eco-system movement for manufacturing in India. Work closely with the external key stake holders in relevant segments of Display Manufacturing - such as OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers), CM (Contract Manufacturer), ODM (Original Design Manufacturer), and Convertors.
- Represent the entire range of 3M portfolio for Display & Electronics to our customers, through presentations, training, & conferences.
- Build rapport with the key customer decision makers and become a single point of contact for all customer service needs.
- Work internally with the Global Key Account Managers, Global / Area Segment Marketers, and Global/Area/Local Application Development Engineers to understand the latest spec in and new product applications being developed for key customer segments globally and within Asia. Effectively use the information obtained to identify and convert potential opportunities into sales revenue within the India eco-system.
- One of the key responsibilities would be to identify the right business model for sales within this segment for India.
- Territory responsibilities are based on for specific large targeted accounts in the Display Electronics ecosystem. Since this is a pan-India role extensive travel across India would be required depending on customer needs.
- Specify 3M products at key OEM’s and Tiers on engineering drawings and provide support required to transition business to Indian manufacturing locations
- Build and promote strong, long-lasting customer relationships with business partners and stakeholders.
- Build & Manage distributor & convertor sales teams in the territory
Skills, Expertise, and Qualifications Required:
- Understand customer pain points and work closely with the design team to add value to the product through 3M portfolio offering
- Better understanding of competitor offerings and 3M USP.
- Provide customers with insights on the potential problems which can happen in the real field conditions and what 3M has to offer to overcome the same.
- Thorough product and application knowledge on 3M offerings for the electronics market focus segments.
- Have a macro view on the industry and provide customer with meaningful insights on how they can be competitive and differentiated in the market place
- Have a basic understanding of the electronics manufacturing such as SMT lines, component manufacturing and the terminologies associated with the same.
- Work with convertors to understand how a 3M part moves from source plant to the end customer. Understand the value addition at each point. (Material movement, conversion, assembly process)
- Be on the lookout for any investments made in the industry and create leads and have the 3M offerings presented.
Other Skills:
- Preferable to be located in Chennai or Pune
- Candidate must have background of atleast 5 years of experience in Electronics or related industry.
- Candidate must have some background and exposure to Display Electronics, Consumer Electronics or Automotive/Automotive Component segments
- Some experience with light management solutions (e.g. OCA, BEF), tapes/adhesives, conductive materials, TIM, etc., and knowledge in converting processes like die-cutting and slitting would be an advantage.
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in engineering from any reputed institution/ University with Materials science/ Electronics / Physics / Light/Optics as the major subject.
- Should be a team player, able to plan and work independently with minimum supervision.
- Should be able to network effectively and efficiently with internal and external customers and should have good customer account management skills.
- Strong analytical, presentation and communication skills.
