Job Purpose
The Advanced System Engineer is responsible for architecting, implementing, and maintaining complex network, cloud, and security systems. This role works under direct supervision to deliver enterprise-grade solutions, including cloud strategy execution, infrastructure design, and security administration. The engineer ensures the stability, scalability, and security of networks, storage, and server environments while supporting forensic and operational workflows.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, implement, and manage advanced network and cloud solutions, including Cisco, Aruba, and Mellanox hardware.
- Design, deploy, and maintain Lenovo ThinkSystems storage and Lenovo Unified Storage (NatApp FAS) solutions.
- Administer Active Directory Domains, including Domain Controllers, DNS, DHCP, and member servers.
- Maintain NAS environments, including updates, troubleshooting, and archival backups.
- Support servers, client workstations, lab networks, and forensic hardware configurations.
- Create and maintain infrastructure diagrams, technical documentation, network maps, and reports.
- Collaborate on IT project planning, cloud computing strategy, and infrastructure enhancements.
- Ensure systems comply with state security and operational standards.
- Assist Certified Forensic Computer Examiners (CFCE) in resolving hardware/software issues.
- Install, configure, and maintain antivirus software and other enterprise tools.
- Provide court testimony regarding the integrity and reliability of server systems and data.
- Work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, based on operational needs.
Required Skills & Experience
- Expert-level experience managing Cisco Catalyst, Aruba, and Mellanox/Invidia network solutions.
- Strong expertise in Lenovo ThinkSystems storage architecture and administration.
- Advanced knowledge of network hardware, software, and security design principles.
- Experience administering Active Directory domains, DNS, DHCP, and Windows servers.
- Proficiency in NAS management and TrueNAS environments.
- Strong technical documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to provide testimony in court.
- Ability to work onsite full-time; remote work is not permitted.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience in system testing, performance analysis, and data integrity validation.
- Ability to plan, initiate, and manage complex IT projects related to networking, security, and infrastructure.
- Experience configuring forensic workstations and handling sensitive case files.
- Knowledge of license management, software updates, and hardware procurement processes.
