Job Summary:

The Electrical Intern is responsible for producing high-quality work and creating project designs and plans with responsibility for preparing engineering design drawings. The Electrical Intern will contribute to all phases of engineering including varied experience in project planning and design.

WHAT TO EXPECT DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Provides technical and design services in support of water/wastewater design projects as part of a multi-discipline project team to produce design/construction drawings.
  • Responsible for completing design tasks within budget and on schedule.
  • Communicates with Project Managers, Sr. Engineers and design team to complete work efficiently.
  • This position is responsible for the design and layout of engineering drawings.
  • Produce drawings or sketches as required.
  • Prepare quantities for cost estimating.
  • On occasion, fieldwork may be required. Those duties would include observation of sitework.
  • Performs other miscellaneous technical and non-technical duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Requires active pursuit of a bachelor’s in electrical engineering or related engineering degree.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required.
  • The ability to balance multiple work assignments on multiple projects at the same time is required.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team is required.
  • Requires process-oriented thinking with strong organizational and technical skills.
  • Requires excellent communication, and the ability to take and understand directives from Project Engineers and Project Managers.
  • The ability to complete work consistently, with moderate flexibility to accommodate varying demands from Project Managers is required.
  • Candidates are required to have a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle and criminal record as determined by McKim & Creed.
  • Candidates are required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.

  • This is an entry-level role, however, previous experience working with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and/or Revit design is preferred.
