We are seeking two (2) Child Watch Team Members to support our upcoming staffing needs. These roles help provide a safe, engaging, and welcoming environment for children while their parents or guardians use the facility. Child Watch team members work under the direction of the Youth Development Director.

Available Shifts

We are hiring two part-time roles with the following coverage needs:

Morning Shift

  • Monday–Friday
  • 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM

Afternoon/Evening Shift

  • Monday–Thursday
  • 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM

Candidates may apply for either shift. Please indicate if you are applying for one or both, and whether you are interested in part-time or a potential full-time option.

Opportunities for Full-Time Employment

There is potential for a full-time position for candidates interested in lifeguarding in addition to Child Watch.

Possible full-time combinations include:

  • Morning Child Watch + Afternoon Lifeguard
  • Afternoon Child Watch + Morning Lifeguard
  • Split shift (Morning + Afternoon Child Watch) with additional Lifeguard shifts to reach full-time hours

Training and certification information can be provided for candidates interested in expanding into lifeguarding roles.

Expectations for Part-Time Staffing

  • One team member will staff the morning Child Watch shift
  • One team member will staff the afternoon/evening Child Watch shift

Ideal Candidate

  • Enjoy working with children
  • Demonstrates strong communication and customer service skills
  • Is dependable, attentive, and safety-focused
  • Lifeguard certification is a plus (training may be available)

Operations & Safety

  • Ensures the health and safety of each child
  • Keeps program areas safe, clean, and organized
  • Ensures equipment is in proper working order
  • Responds calmly and appropriately to incidents and emergencies
  • Completes required incident reports and communicates concerns to the Director

Data Tracking & Documentation

  • Maintains accurate and consistent documentation as required

Qualifications

  • At least 16 years of age
  • Experience working with youth preferred
  • Reliable, dependable, and detail-oriented
  • CPR/AED/Basic First Aid certified (YMCA will provide training)
  • Ability to complete the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check (paid for by the YMCA)

Compensation

$16.00 – $17.00 per hour, depending on experience.
