Assessment Specialist (non-rep) @ West Valley School District/High School

 

 

Under general supervision of the building principal and Assistant Superintendent of Teacher and Learning, this assignment will create a system throughout the school year that would allow staff to proctor and utilize the information from all of the necessary assessments that must be done. (Accuplacer, SBAC, AP etc.)

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required
  • 2-year degree or higher, preferred
  • Outstanding facilitation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills (communication, problem solving, conflict management, collaboration)
  • Strong organizational skills 
  • Expertise and knowledge of appropriate instructional methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to work positively and cooperatively with administration, staff parents, and community
  • Excellent technology skills and familiarity with programs that assist students in reading and math as well as assessment systems, data collection and record keeping
  • Bilingual Preferred


Essential Duties and Responsibilities, Assessment Specialist:

  • Lead for all High School state and district testing including but not limited to AP, PSAT, SAT, ASVAB, Accuplacer, SBA, WCAS, WA-AIM, WIDA.
  • Obtain knowledge of state assessments and graduation requirements for each grad year
  • Prepare testing materials and security documents
  • Plan and coordinate calendar for test dates with District Administration
  • Utilize the WCAP portal in order to pull
  • Stay in contact with OSPI, College Board and the district to make staff aware of when and how assessments will be administered.  
  • Work with all of our other building committees/groups.
  • Create assessment schedules that will minimize disruptions for our students and staff.  
  • Collaborate with Ram Strong teachers so that they know how to disseminate the information about each assessment and the purpose.  
  • Upload assessment results to district data systems
  • Train proctors for the different assessments given.  
  • Willingness to survey our students and staff in order to drive future decisions.  
  • Lead an annual training at the beginning of each year discussing what assessments we are doing for that school year and why we are doing them.   
  • Able to pull reports (along with necessary strand data) and have them available for our teachers to utilize for their PLCs.
  • Create reports, summaries, data analysis, and program evaluation for district administration upon request 
  • Assist district administration with data dashboards and presentations (Data Summit)
  • Provide assistance for staff to use data management tools, such as Homeroom.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities, High School 504 Specialist:

  • Serve as Case Manager for High School 504 Plans
  • Schedule and attend 504 meetings for High School students
  • Collaborate with building staff/administration for appropriate and meaningful classroom accommodations
  • Ensure federal compliance for Section 504 including identification, evaluation and implementation
  • Determine eligibility for students
  • Responsible for being current on laws and keeping up with all changes with the law/legal trends with 504 decisions and sharing updates with District Administration, Counseling Staff
  • Oversees trainings and current processes for staff
  • Approve and confirm that all 504 eligibility decisions are accurate, compliant and carefully documented.
  • Collaborate with District Administration
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Working Relationships:

Communicates regularly with administration, principals, staff, parents/guardians and teaching staff. Required to deal with a wide range of student behaviors; required to deal with a wise rage of physical and emotional disabilities; may occasionally deal with distraught or difficult student, staff or parents/guardians.

 

Working Conditions:

The daily work is performed in a classroom/office setting. The job incumbent is often required to stand or sit for prolonged periods; be exposed to computer display terminal for prolonged periods; and meet externally imposed and inflexible deadlines. May be required to work outdoors in inclement weather; lift, move and position student and equipment; supervise; attend to students’ personal hygiene; may be required to deal with distraught, angry, or hostile individuals; may need to take precautions to avoid exposure to student/staff bodily fluids and cleaning or disinfection compounds; required to work in non-routine positions for extended periods.
