Nutrition Department Specialist
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field required
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a K-12 education system preferred
- Leadership experience or project management preferred
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable

Job Goal(s):
Performs professional duties required to support the nutrition services department, including the performance of complex and/or sensitive activities; may manage large-scale, long-term projects; managing personnel and required records; and performs related duties as required or assigned.

Job Specific Responsibilities:
- Answers the Nutrition Services Office phone and greets visitors to the office. Answers questions when able and otherwise directs callers to the appropriate contact. Is a liaison between the Nutrition Services Office and parents, staff, students, other district departments and vendors.
- Works with each site, Leads, Kitchen Managers and Director of Nutrition Services to cover absences. Approves all department absences and makes corrections to Timeclock Plus and Red Rover as needed. Maintains database for employee absences, reports incorrect entries and assists with disciplinary letters and correspondence.
- Assists other Nutrition Services staff, HR and Payroll with new hire orientation and contract paperwork as needed. Assists with training material for all new department hires. Tracks employee probationary periods and generates letter of assignment paperwork once completed.
- Manages workers’ compensation for the department. Schedules appointments for staff, maintains paperwork, monitors restrictions and return-to-work information.
- Assists Director with payroll review and assists HR and Payroll with personnel questions. Corrects entries and assists personnel with timeclock questions.
- Maintains and oversees employee uniform inventory and submits reimbursement for employee uniform allowances.
- Reviews, approves, and submits mileage reimbursement for all department staff.
- Maintains all staff records regarding hiring dates, end of probation, and discipline letters. Created and maintains staff training database records per DE requirements. Assists with editing and proofing department documents, including memos, letters, handbooks and bid documents.
- Works with the Facility Management Office to provide fobs for all department staff; oversees staff access times to buildings and works with all vendors for delivery access to buildings.
- Manages milk deliveries and milk cooler repairs and replacement.
- Manages technology inventory, including monitors, computers, battery back ups, radios, barcode scanners and other needed equipment. Enters all work orders for technology repairs and coordinates replacement computers while ones are in repair. Collaborates with Tech on department computer upgrades including number and type of computers, along with software needs on each one. Manages departmental fixed assets inventory records as required.
- Maintains inventory of office supplies and purchases when needed.
- Maintains first aid supplies and distributes them to all kitchens as needed.
- Maintains strict privacy of all confidential matters.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director.
