Job Title: A/V Engineer (Audio & Visual)
Department: Community Engagement
Classification: Variable Hour / Part-time or Full-time, Non-Exempt, 10-month
Reports to: Executive Director of Community Engagement
DEFINITION
The A/V Engineer is responsible for coordinating, operating, and maintaining necessary audio, video, and lighting equipment to ensure high-quality experiences for events, meetings, and productions at Linfield Christian School. This role requires both technical expertise in sound and visual systems and organizational skills to support events and troubleshoot equipment. This role is variable hour position with a variable schedule centered around school events that occur during school hours, after school and at night.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Set-up, operate and monitor AV systems for meetings, performances, special assemblies, site events, and school events as scheduled.
- Provide sound support and serve as emcee for graduation events.
- Provide technical support during live events, ensuring seamless audio and visual delivery.
- Coordinate with event organizers to understand and meet AV needs.
- Visual Media Support – Operate and oversee ProPresenter, projectors, lighting, and other visual systems to ensure accuracy and engagement.
EQUIPMENT MANAGEMENT
- Maintain inventory and schedule use of AV equipment (sound systems, projectors, microphones, lighting).
- Prepare Equipment in Advance – Arrive early to set up, test, and troubleshoot audio and visual systems before rehearsals and services.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly and efficiently.
- Oversee routine maintenance, repairs and upgrades.
- Maintain and Care for Equipment – Perform routine maintenance, report issues, and ensure gear longevity.
- Document and Organize – Keep records of audio/visual settings, stage layouts, and technical notes.
COLLABORATION & TRAINING
- Work with campus departments and staff to provide AV solutions.
- Train staff, faculty, or volunteers on proper equipment usage.
- Ensure Clear Communication – Maintain consistent communication with staff and volunteers. Respond promptly to messages (urgent: same day; non-urgent: within 24 hours).
- Stay Current on A/V Practices – Continue learning about audio, visual, and media trends to improve worship experiences.
ADMINISTRATION
- Manage scheduling and set-up for recurring and special events.
- Maintain documentation on equipment procedures and technical setups.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and best practices.
