Premier Orthopaedics, in partnership with Philadelphia Hand to Shoulder, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Surgery Scheduler I to join our team in Bryn Mawr, PA. Position Summary
 
The Surgery Scheduler I is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the surgical scheduling process. This includes tracking medical clearances, arranging pre-operative and post-operative appointments, communicating scheduling requirements to patients, and ensuring all documentation and authorizations are completed accurately. This role supports efficient clinic workflow and ensures each patient receives timely, clear, and compassionate communication throughout the surgical scheduling process. This is a full-time position. 
 
Key Responsibilities:
 
  • Track and obtain medical clearances for scheduled surgeries.
  • Navigate the EMR to document voicemails and return calls as needed.
  • Contact patients within 48 hours of the signed surgical order to schedule surgery and all associated pre-op and post-op appointments.
  • Provide ongoing communication with patients regarding pre-certification, authorizations, financial counseling, and the overall scheduling process.
  • During financial counseling, collect patient responsibility via phone or instruct patients to bring required payment to their pre-op appointment.
  • Communicate all clinical instructions required for appointments and procedures.
  • Update the system with any changes or additions to the schedule.
  • Accurately update patient information in the practice management system and EMR.
  • Ensure canceled appointments and related ancillary appointments are appropriately canceled and communicated.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 
Qualifications
 
Education:
 
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge preferred.

Licenses & Certifications: 

  • None required.
 
Experience:
 
  • 1–2 years of medical office scheduling experience OR 1–2 years administrative experience with orthopedic clinic exposure.
  • Experience communicating effectively with physicians, patients, and the public.
  • Experience working with insurance plans, authorizations, and patient scheduling processes.
  • Experience using computer systems and entering patient information accurately.
