Job Description:Primary Function of Position:
The Director of Program Management Office (PMO) for Sustaining portfolio is responsible to provide strategic direction and oversee the execution of design change programs/projects which may get triggered due to supply chain challenges, cost reduction opportunities, new regulations, or quality improvements. This includes aligning strategic objectives with project execution, developing robust project plans, managing risks/budgets, facilitating communications & escalations to achieve desired outcomes and customer benefits. The Director leads a team of project managers and works across functional leaders to identify resources, responsibilities and ensure timely progress on project milestone, providing portfolio visibility to the organization.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Provides inspiring vision for the team and fosters an environment that encourages creativity, risk taking and crisp execution:
- Directs activities of managers and individual project managers responsible for execution of goals and deliverables.
- Leverages PMI best practices, frameworks and industry tools to improve project planning, risk mitigations, execution & value delivery.
- Collaborates with PMO senior leadership to drive key process initiatives to enhance effectiveness in NPD process, governance, resource planning and portfolio management
- Estimates and identifies resource capacity/capabilities needed to achieve project goals through established resource planning models and tools.
- Drives escalations to close major gaps; or balance through resource leveling or appropriate tradeoffs.
- Standardizes project management levels of services, frameworks, tools and key performance indicators to enable project success.
- Interacts internally and externally with executive level management, requiring negotiation of critical matters.
- Directs cross-functional teams in context of new product development, product launches, regulatory submission and other high priority projects.
- Leads review board for sustaining projects within the BU portfolio, ensuring alignment to business objectives and effective decision making.
- Proactively manages changes in project scope, identifying impact, tradeoffs, and associated contingency plans.
- Leads key PMO initiatives and process improvements to increase R&D productivity, scalability and drive efficiencies with appropriate inter-departmental and support staff personnel.
- Provides regular portfolio updates to executive leadership and actively communicates status on key milestones through dashboards and metrics.
- Develops, tracks, and reports project cost and spending on periodic basis.
- Oversees development of project documentation including project charters, project plans, RFP’s, process maps, and business requirements.
- Manages third party vendors for project resources as needed. Negotiates and obtains project statements of work, quotes, and contracts.
Skills, Experience, Education, & Training:
- Minimum Bachelor's degree required. MS preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the medical device industry or highly regulated industry.
- Minimum 4 years of leadership (direct team management experience).
- Proficiency with Project Management industry standards, techniques, tools and methodologies (PMP preferred).
- People management skills with ability to ensure team success.

- Demonstrated experience working with all phases of the product development lifecycle
- Strong negotiation, influencing and change management skills to coalesce conflicting views and drive alignment.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications.
