Qualifications & Experience
- AQF Level 7 (Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent)
- Aeronautical design engineering experience with structural expertise.
- Significant DASR Part 21J Compliance Verification experience.
- Prior experience acting as a CVE within a Defence Aviation System Program Office.
- Strong understanding of aircraft systems/subsystems and configuration management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing tasks and deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Strong knowledge of aircraft system safety and its role in complex systems.
- Ability to mentor, review and uplift the capability of junior engineers.
- Experience supporting Army or rotary-wing certification programs (desirable).
- An Australian NV-1 security clearance and ability to access/handle Export Controlled technology, data and information

Your responsibilities will include:
In this senior role, you will act on behalf of the Chief of the Office of Airworthiness (CoAW) to verify compliance in accordance with DASR GM 21.A.239(a). You’ll independently review and approve engineering artefacts and certification documents, ensuring accuracy, traceability and alignment with airworthiness and regulatory requirements.
Working within a diverse team, you’ll lead by example by conducting high-level technical reviews while mentoring junior engineers in certification processes, structural analysis and Airworthiness fundamentals.
Key responsibilities:
- Independently check and verify compliance demonstration documents, including design definitions, analyses, manuals, test plans and test results.
- Approve revisions to manuals and technical content requiring DASA approval.
- Provide authoritative technical advice across aircraft structures, systems and certification.
- Support aircraft certification as a project engineer, including managing dependent checking and technical oversight.
- Mentor junior engineers and support their development in airworthiness and certification disciplines.
- Manage tasking, schedules and priorities within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
- Contribute to maintaining configuration baselines and high-quality engineering artefacts.
