In this position, you will be supporting the Combat Mission Systems (CMS) Business at our Aiken, SC facility. We have 2 positions onsite at our Aiken facility, 1 for the winter (January-May) and 1 for summer (May-August). Relocation will not be offered, and housing is not provided. This position is expected to be Full Time (40 hours / week).

The Combat Vehicles line of business within the Platforms & Services (P&S) Sector of BAE Systems is looking for an intern who is pursuing an Industrial, Systems, or Process Engineering degree to support the assembly of armored military vehicles. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Industrial Engineering Intern to join our team. You will have the opportunity to work on real-world projects, apply theoretical knowledge, and develop practical skills in Industrial Engineering. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience and build a strong foundation in Industrial Engineering principles and practices.

As an Industiral Engineering intern you will:
  • Assist in conducting time studies to analyze and optimize production processes
  • Participate in Lean methodology initiatives to identify and eliminate waste in production processes
  • Analyze production processes to distinguish between value-added and non-value-added time, and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Assist in collecting and analyzing data to support process improvements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process changes
  • Develop and maintain reports and dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Assist in identifying and implementing opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency gains
  • Assist in upkeep and updates of facility layouts using AutoCAD
  •  Support Digital Twin revisions through data collection and cross functional collaboration (Simio)

Required Skills and Education

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
