- Transcribes medical, clinical, reports, letters using hand written material or from computer software dictation system
- Preparation of Mental Health Act forms at the direction of the Psychiatrist.
- Requesting and/or releasing of correspondence in accordance with established procedures and practices.
- Provide administrative, secretarial or clerical back-up services to other members of the clinical team including providing reception, typing and filing services.
- Provide secretarial support to clinical team meetings by recording and producing team minutes as required
- To work in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies and procedures of The Royal.
- To ensure a work environment that is conducive to The Royal’s Harassment Free policy.
- Successful completion of an approved Medical Secretarial Education Program.
- Keyboarding (50 WPM) and dicta typing skills.
- Computer skills using Word Perfect, Word, Quattro Pro, Excel, E-mail and Internet.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology and requirements of the Mental Health Act and the Ontario Public Hospital Act related to clinical records.
- Good organizational skills and demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Recent CPIC (within 6 Months) including, vulnerable sector.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as a member of a professional multi-disciplinary treatment team.
- English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading comprehension and written expression. Bilingual (French/English) is preferred.
