Job Description:

Reporting to the Chair, Community Studies, the Field Placement Officer plans, organizes, manages and oversees field placements for Early Childhood Education (ECE) students. On an on-going basis and with support from faculty and the Chair, the incumbent provides guidance and advice and recommends workable solutions to students, Field Liaisons and Agency Site Supervisors concerning field placement related problems and issues.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Arranges and co-ordinates student placements for three semesters annually for multiple sections of the ECE Diploma program;

  • Maintains liaising relationship with key stakeholders involved in field placement;

  • Recruits new placement sites;

  • Records and administers placement related data.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum two (2) year diploma or equivalent, in ECE;

  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in delivering services to a diverse clientele, preferably in an educational setting;

  • Up to date registration with the College of ECE, www.college-ece.ca is an asset;

  • Recent experience arranging work/co-op placements is an asset;

  • Highly effective organizational skills with keen attention to detail;

  • Demonstrated ability to develop positive working relations/partnerships with internal and external clients;

  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and work independently and within a team;

  • Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel and Outlook;

  • Experience using databases to track and report on a variety of data;

  • Strong communication skills, oral and written;

  • Knowledge of Student Information Systems (e.g., GeneSIS), online collaboration tools and/or Learning Management Systems (e.g., Brightspace) is an asset;

  • Experience with use of CRM tool(s) is an asset.

This position requires regular on-site work at Algonquin College’s Woodroffe (Ottawa) Campus.
