Holiday Rotation A
Works under the direct supervision of the department Registered Nurses. Maintains and organizes outpatient medical records. Is responsible for the majority of the telephone communication at the desk.
Responsibilities:A. Personal Traits, Qualities and Aptitudes: Must be able to
1) Perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
2) Recognize the rights and responsibilities of patient confidentiality.
3) Conveys empathy and compassion to those experiencing grief, pain, or trauma.
4) Reports to other staff members any changes in patient condition.
5) Accurately transcribe physician orders and notify nursing staff of pertinent changes.
6) Relates to others in a manner that creates a sense of teamwork and cooperation.
7) Communicates effectively and therapeutically with people from every socioeconomic background.
8) Incorporates guest relations in daily activities.
B. Working Conditions:
Inside environment, protected from the weather but not necessarily temperature changes. Subject to frequent exposure to infection, contagious disease, and hazardous materials and equipment. Occasionally subject to combative patients. Variable noise levels. Also subject to rapid pace, multiple stimuli, unpredictable environment, and critical situations.
C. Physical Demands/Traits: Must be able to
1) perceive the nature of sounds by the ear;
2) express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken work;
3) perceive characteristics of objects through the eyes;
4) extend arms and hands in any direction;
5) seize, hold, grasp, turn, or otherwise work with hands;
6) pick, pinch, or otherwise work with fingers;
7) perceive such attributes of objects or materials as size, shape, temperature, or texture; and
8) stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Must be able to lift 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Continuous walking and standing. Must be able to identify, match, and distinguish colors. Rare lifting of greater than 100 pounds.

A. Education:
Required:
- High school diploma or GED, CPR
Certificate:
- Oregon CNA license, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI).

- Previous experience as ward clerk with computerized order entry
C. Equipment/Tools/Work Aids:
Computer (order entry system), printer, photo copier, patient records, telephone system, accu check monitors, BP cuffs, thermometers, patient beds, wheelchairs, stretchers, bed scales.
D. Specialized Knowledge & Skills:
Able to provide a CNA level of patient care, age specific, cultural, physical and psychosocial well being.
E. Other:
Bilingual and/or English-Spanish speaking preferred. Ability to work with culturally diverse population.
