Pediatric Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel Position  
Location: Oceanside, CA 
Job Type: Travel Contract   
Duration: 13 weeks  
Shift: 4x7 Days 
Pay: $1465/week 
Completion Bonus: Up to $5370 total.
(You will receive $1790 after the successful completion of each of your first 3 contracts with us)

Job Description:  

We are seeking an experienced Pediatric Registered Nurse (RN) for the Emergency Department within a top-tier Children's Hospital system. This critical role requires expertise in pediatric triage and the ability to manage a high-volume, diverse census (45–66 patients/day). The ideal candidate must be willing to work a mixed shift schedule, including one weekend day per week, and be prepared to float to various regional locations.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Perform nursing duties within the Pediatric ED across all age groups (Neonates to Adolescents).
  • Utilize required Peds and ED experience to perform triage effectively on pediatric patients.
  • Manage a wide range of pediatric diagnoses and injuries, including Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), Influenza, Croup, Asthma, Fever, Fractures/Dislocations, Lacerations, and Seizures.
  • Execute standard ED and pediatric skills such as Emergency Medications, Splinting, IV starts, Nebulizer Treatments, and recognize signs of abuse.
  • Adhere to a schedule of minimum 30 guaranteed hours per week, working three weekday shifts and one weekend shift.
  • Willingness to float to sister facilities as needed to meet unit needs, including Mid City, Escondido, and Chula Vista (primarily based at Oceanside).
  • Maintain professionalism regarding dress code: Any scrub color EXCEPT black.

Qualifications:  

  • Active RN license in the state of California (CA RN License required).
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
  • Experience working with children is REQUIRED. Must be willing to care for both adult and pediatric patients.
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent experience is required.
  • First-Time Travelers: Accepted if they have experience in triage and the ED.
  • Vaccine: Flu Vaccine is Required – No Exemptions. COVID-19 Vaccine is Not Required.
  • RTO: Maximum 6 days RTO restriction.
  • Locals: Locals are NOT accepted (50-mile radius rule applies).
