Job Description: Acclaim is seeking a Full-Time Advanced Practice Provider to join our Gastroenterology team. The Department of Internal Medicine provides specialty services across the continuum of care at JPS. We currently have over 100 providers who work in a variety of different locations including the Main Hospital, Ambulatory Surgery Center, and our Community Medicine Clinics. The Department of Internal Medicine utilizes a robust APP onboarding program, inclusive of a 6-8 week training phase in which APPs are able to safely learn and drill the fundamentals of patient care, before their official patient templates open. Furthermore, this onboarding is followed by a thoughtful and well-calibrated template ramp up, such that APPs are given the time to learn and grown appropriately in their new role. Job Summary:
· Manage chronic hepatology and gastrointestinal disease processes
· Order and interpret labs, imaging and procedures related to hepatology and gastrointestinal disorders
· Large growing practice of physicians and APPs
· No call required (although opportunity for inpatient if interested)
· EPIC EMR
· Mmodal dictation with possible AI enabled scribe in near future
o Must be able to demonstrate working knowledge in area assigned, and competency in assessment techniques, diagnosis and treatment processes that apply to the assigned medical specialty area.
o Must have good interpersonal, verbal, and oral communication skills.
o Must be self-directed and take the initiative to develop and participate in community activities and medical outreach.
o Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behavior.
o Independently and in collaboration with physician(s) and interdisciplinary team members, provides comprehensive clinical and organizational direction and leadership to the healthcare provider team in the care of patients.
o Performs comprehensive history and physical assessment.
o Documents findings and noting pertinent normal and abnormal findings.
o Orders and interprets the appropriate diagnostic labs and tests.
o Forms medical diagnoses based on history, assessment, and diagnostic findings.
o Develops, implements, and evaluates treatment plans.
o Prescribes and recommends pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions.
o Initiates appropriate specialty consultations referrals when requisite.
o Initiates and evaluates clinical pathways and protocols.
o Collaborate with Attendings and/or Fellows regarding admissions and community transfers.
o Facilitates the timely flow of patients via collaboration with interdisciplinary team members and supports all interdisciplinary relationships.
o Recognizes acute/emergent situations requiring immediate responsiveness and initiates life-saving interventions, alerting the interdisciplinary team members for assistance.
o Recognizes and incorporates age-specific requirements, communicates plan of care with patients and families.
o Advocates for patients and family members in educational needs, treatment options, participation in care and ethical issues and patient rights with recognition and consideration of the diverse needs of the individual/family
o Provides consultation in specialty areas.
o Maintains confidentiality of patient information
o Coordinates meeting applicable clinical standards for all disciplines in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members.
o Explains the necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of procedure(s) to patients, patient families, staff, and students.
o Performs designated procedures after demonstrated competency.
