Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE)

The Supplier Quality Engineer ensures that all purchased materials and components meet company and customer quality standards. Acting as the primary liaison between Rittal and global suppliers, this role drives proactive quality planning, issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct First Article Inspections (FAIs) and validate supplier documentation
  • Perform supplier/vendor audits to ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and internal standards
  • Evaluate supplier performance metrics and implement corrective actions
  • Lead Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations for supplier-related issues
  • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve product quality concerns and prevent recurrence
  • Support receiving inspection and quality control teams with technical guidance
  • Maintain accurate records of supplier quality activities and audit findings
  • Act as primary point of contact for all supplier quality matters
  • Drive supplier qualification, approval, and ongoing compliance processes
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between engineering, purchasing, and production teams
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) by validating supplier readiness and capability
  • Travel as needed for audits and corrective actions

Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field
    • OR Associate degree and 2–4 years related experience
    • OR 5–8 years related experience in manufacturing quality role (preferably power or IT infrastructure sectors)
  • Experience & Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and quality tools (FMEA, 8D, SPC, PPAP)
    • Experience with global suppliers and cross-functional teams
    • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (ISO 9001/AS9100)
    • Preferred: machining, metalworking, or assembly experience
    • Certifications such as CQE, CSQP, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, or Lead Auditor (preferred)
  • Core Competencies:
    • Technical knowledge of quality engineering principles
    • Analytical skills for root cause analysis and data interpretation
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
    • Strong problem-solving and auditing capabilities
    • Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems, and quality management software
    • Leadership ability to guide suppliers and internal teams
