Surview Field Services is currently hiring a Superintendent with gas & utility experience! The Superintendent is responsible for leading, coordinating, and supervising all on-site construction and maintenance activities for natural gas integrity management projects. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards, regulatory requirements, and company objectives. The Superintendent serves as the primary on-site representative, fostering collaboration among field personnel, subcontractors, and stakeholders while maintaining the highest standards of safety, workmanship, and professionalism.
**Compensation for this role is based on experience. **
Key Responsibilities of the Superintendent:
Project Execution & Oversight
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee all field activities for natural gas infrastructure projects.
- Manage daily field operations for assigned crews, including scheduling issues, resource allocation, and progress tracking to ensure timely project completion.
- Review project plans, traffic control plans, permits, and specifications to ensure compliance with design and client requirements.
- Audit project documentation, including daily reports, schedules, change orders, and punch lists.
- Supervise the total field effort in alignment with budget, schedule, safety, and quality objectives.
Leadership & Supervision
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate field teams to ensure optimal performance and professional growth.
- Assign and delegate tasks effectively while maintaining accountability for results.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to promote continuous improvement.
Safety & Compliance
- Champion a strong safety culture by conducting daily safety briefings/ “Toolbox Talks” and leading safety committee meetings.
- Ensure full compliance with company and regulatory safety policies; immediately identify and correct job site hazards.
- Support and uphold Operator Qualification (OQ) standards as required.
- Investigate and manage all safety incidents and violations.
- Arrange traffic control for projects and resolve and issues with traffic control subcontractors.
- Partner with Asset and Compliance Manager to resolve any fleet or DOT compliance issues.
Quality Assurance & Coordination
- Coordinate inspections, material testing, and quality control processes throughout project execution.
- Partner with Operations Coordinator on material orders, rental equipment, vendor coordination and delivery scheduling.
- Collaborate with subcontractors and inspectors to ensure all work meets or exceeds specifications and quality standards.
- Assist with permitting issuance and completion as needed.
Client Relations & Communication
- Maintain professional, positive relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and team members.
- Communicate effectively with project stakeholders regarding progress, issues, and solutions.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences to promote brand reputation and support business growth.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong technical knowledge of the natural gas construction and maintenance industry – specifically corrosion integrity management.
- Ability to take and pass Operator Qualification (OQ) covered tasks if needed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and iOS operating systems.
- Proficiency in Smartsheet’s.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and motivate teams.
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills, particularly under pressure.
- Ability to interpret and apply construction drawings, maps, and specifications.
- Basic math skills to assist with measurements and computations.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
- Willingness to travel extensively (up to 90%) to various project sites across the U.S.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required; completion of a vocational or technical program preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years of multi crew supervision experience in natural gas or bridge construction, maintenance, or related field.
- Proven experience managing field crews and overseeing infrastructure projects.
- Valid Class A or B CDL preferred.
- Forklift certification preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in varying and sometimes extreme weather conditions.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and climbing as required.
- Ability to work night shift when required.
- Ability to perform all functions of a foreman should you need to fill a shift.
- Capability to operate and transport equipment and materials safely.
- Work from elevated positions and over water when necessary.
- Use of precision or semi-precision tools.
Additional Requirements
- Must possess and maintain a valid real ID driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Must maintain required vehicle insurance coverage.
