Job Description:Position Overview:
Intuitive is seeking a Sr Clinical and Product Education Trainer within POET to play a pivotal internal role in facilitating advanced courses, leading hands-on labs, and delivering impactful lectures for product development teams. As a Subject Matter Expert (SME), this individual will leverage their deep knowledge of Intuitive’s products and clinical applications, as well as expertise in surgical and diagnostic procedures, design control, risk management, and usability. The Sr Trainer will drive excellence in clinical and product education, foster innovation and learning within the organization, and continually enhance the effectiveness of Intuitive’s internal development programs through active program coordination and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate Courses: Conduct engaging and informative training sessions for Design, Engineering, and Product Development teams, ensuring content is current and directly relevant to Intuitive’s products and clinical practices.
- Deliver Lectures: Present complex clinical and technical information in a clear, concise manner, adapting delivery methods to diverse learner needs and environments, both on-site and virtually.
- Develop as a Subject Matter Expert (SME): Continuously enhance expertise in Intuitive’s technologies along with relevant clinical applications, surgical and diagnostic procedures, design control, risk management, and usability. Serve as a key resource for internal stakeholders.
- Lead Hands-On Labs: Design and execute practical lab sessions for internal-facing teams, providing team members with valuable hands-on experience to reinforce theoretical and practical knowledge.
- Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with cross-functional partners—including Product Operations Enablement and other internal stakeholders—to ensure training aligns with organizational goals and product development initiatives. Contribute to program design and improvements.
- Evaluate Training Effectiveness: Assess the impact of training programs through surveys, observation, and feedback. Use outcomes to refine content and delivery for increased program effectiveness.
- Mentor and Coach: Provide guidance and mentorship to new and existing team members throughout onboarding and beyond, fostering competence and supporting individual development.
- Facilitate Hospital Case Observations: Lead hospital case observations in real OR environments and coordinate participation in pre-clinical, surgeon, usability labs, and conference attendance for trainees.
- Review and Revise Materials: Assist with the periodic review and updating of training materials, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
- Stay Informed on Industry Trends: Maintain awareness of advancements in clinical technology, surgical practice, and training methodologies to incorporate best practices into education programs.
- Drive Continuous Improvement: Proactively recommend and implement enhancements to internal learning programs, supporting innovation and operational excellence across the organization.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum BS degree with experience in education and training
- 3-5 years of experience within Intuitive Surgical
- Demonstrates commitment to peer training, specifically related to advanced technology within a clinical environment
- Cultivates competence in others through structured learning experience and feedback strategies
- Proven ability to plan, organize, and oversee assignments involving multiple teams and individuals
- Exhibits leadership skills and demonstrates emotional intelligence
- Excellent communication (written, verbal), presentation and documentation skills
- Strong project management, planning, decision making, negotiating and change management skills
- High capacity to learn in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to self-development
Preferred Qualifications:
- Clinical/medical degree or surgical (circulator or scrub technician) experience
- Knowledge of adult learning principles
- Fluent in medical and surgical terminology

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications.
