Position Summary:
The Rental Manager is responsible for working directly with our customers to answer inbound calls, provide timely and accurate rental quotes, follow-up and book rentals. The Rental Manager will meet rental utilization goals through providing outstanding customer service, and customer satisfaction, building legacy business, sourcing new customers, and overseeing the successful execution of daily rental responsibilities.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build, maintain, and develop strong relationships with existing rental customers and new rental customers, to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.
- Respond to inbound rental inquiries during business hours and participate in the on-call rotation to provide after-hours support, as needed.
- Prepare and send accurate rental quotes, including logistics costs such as mileage, permits, per diem, and freight.
- Manage rental quotes and records in FC&C, ensuring complete documentation of dates, equipment, and customer requirements.
- Track and update all rental opportunities in the FC&C pipeline, including WIG data, Letters of Release (LOR), and project status.
- Coordinate account setup for new customers by collecting required documentation (insurance, billing info, W-9s).
- Ensure timely follow-up to complete account setup accurately and efficiently.
- Review rental contracts and insurance documents for compliance with minimum requirements.
- Develop and execute outbound contact strategies to identify new business opportunities and meet customer needs.
- Engage customers through regular face-to-face visits, phone calls, and emails aligned with company goals.
- Research customer needs and monitor market trends to identify growth opportunities.
- Monitor competitor offerings, pricing, and freight costs to maintain competitive positioning.
- Contribute content ideas and support A1 Lift’s social media presence on platforms like LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram.
- Source and compare carrier rates, negotiate pricing, and issue purchase orders for transportation at rental start and end.
- Support Accounts Receivable in collecting past-due payments from customers.
- Maintain rental revenue utilization reports and prepare ad hoc reports as needed.
- Develop and implement lead measures aligned with business priorities.
- Design and improve systems and processes for operational efficiency.
- Perform additional responsibilities and projects as requested.
Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Skills, and Education):
- Self-starter with a strong ability to multi-task.
- Effective communicator who can provide technical information across all levels of staff.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in mechanical, industrial, or business field strongly preferred.
- Two or more years of customer service or sales support in mechanical, industrial, or business field strongly preferred. Strong planning, problem-solving, negotiation and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Efficient project management knowledge and skills.
- Ability to work independently with persistence.
- Previous customer service experience with history of measurable results.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Good understanding of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words and correct grammatical structure.
- Ability to create graphs, reports and visuals to assist with weekly company updates.
- Ability to write, speak and present effectively to individuals and groups.
Industry Knowledge/Experience
- Past job experience in a fast-paced customer service/sales environment, with expectation to meet sales goals.
- Familiarity with rental sales ERP systems.
- Familiarity with rigging techniques, Versa-Lifts operation, skates, gantries, and additional rigging equipment preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of the requirements to transport heavy or oversize/overweight loads across multiple states.
- Strong knowledge of freight market, and ability to track freight trends across the country.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
The Rental Manager will primarily work in a normal, climate-controlled office environment. Frequent use of a computer, keyboard / mouse, cellular or office telephone, and regular business office equipment. Extended periods of sitting for long durations, occasional walking, and lifting items weighing up to ten (10) pounds. Will consistently rely on the senses involving speech, sight, sound, and touch. May occasionally be required to walk over uneven or rough terrain or work outdoors with exposure to inclement weather.
