POSITION SUMMARY
The Vice President of Finance/Controller's role will be responsible for directing the organization’s accounting, budgeting and financial reporting functions. The individual should have knowledge of Asset Liability Management and be very well versed in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. The candidate will be responsible for preparing the institutions annual budget and provide financial reports detailing the current financial position of the organization to the Board and CEO.

AUTHORITY AND REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
Reports to the President & CEO. Responsible to supervise the Accounting/Finance Department on a daily basis.
AMOUNT OF INDEPENDENT ACTION OF THE POSITION
Approval may be required when solution is not within normal policy guidelines. May make exceptions to procedure as is appropriate and within authority.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Prepare and analyze Asset Liability reports and present results to the Asset Liability Committee and Board as needed.
- Prepare financial analysis text of the Credit Union’s quarterly and annual reports.
- Prepare annual budget utilizing Brick & Associates CU/Budget-Ware module.
- Participate in preparation of all financial reports for the Credit Union’s shareholders and regulators.
- Oversee Accounting Department operations to ensure the integrity of all financial records and the timely and accurate preparation of all financial management and regulatory reports.
- Supervise the activities of the Accounting Department staff and establish performance standards and objectives.
- Remain abreast of current regulatory and accounting issues and requirements and implement changes in operating procedures as necessary to ensure continued Credit Union compliance.
- Accurate preparation of all financial management and regulatory reports.
- Attend meetings and seminars as needed.
- Adherence to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) responsibilities which are specific to the position and reporting suspicious activities to the BSA Officer.
- Other duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
- Master’s degree in finance preferred
- Accounting experience required (minimum 5 years)
- Financial Accounting experience preferred (minimum 2 years)
- Experience working for a Bank or Credit Union preferred (minimum 2 years)
- Management or supervisory experience required (minimum 3 years)
- Additional knowledge in Credit Union investment advisory and opportunities a plus.
- Ability to use a computer, navigate the internet, and use common software applications like Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.) is required.
- Mathematical aptitude.
