Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the General Counsel and Legal department in the internal management of all claims and lawsuits from inception to resolution.

  • Provide support to the General Counsel and other Home Office stakeholders, as well as all branch offices, on a variety of legal, operational, compliance, licensure and administrative matters.

  • Review all medical records subpoenas and requests, ensuring proper documentation is included by the requestor to allow the compliant release of records and maintain an updated internal tracker for the same.

  • Assist with drafting, revising, reviewing and negotiating payor, vendor, Medical Director and other types of contracts, as well as playing a key role in organizing and utilizing the contract life cycle management platform.

  • Assist with corporate governance matters, manage corporate records, and prepare board materials, as requested.

  • Assist with routine and time-sensitive ad hoc projects.

  • Maintain updated and organized files and trackers with consistent naming conventions.

  • Provide general administrative support to the Legal and Compliance departments as needed.

  • Help ensure the organization complies with all relevant federal and state statutes and regulations, working closely with the Compliance team.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications:

  • Demonstrates current working knowledge of healthcare operations, federal and state regulations, HIPAA, OSHA, and CMS guidelines for health care providers, with a preference for such experience in the Home Health and Hospice space.
  • Paralegal certificate or degree in Paralegal Studies strongly preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical, and organization skills.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience as a Paralegal in the healthcare industry, with a preference for Home Health and Hospice specific experience.
  • Current driver’s license in state of residence, reliable transportation, and current auto liability insurance.
  • Strong knowledge of legal and healthcare terminology is required.
  • Proficiency in legal research and document drafting.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with competing priorities.
  • Commitment to maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive patient and company information.
  • Self-starter and ability to work independently and produce a consistent quality work product, with little supervision.
  • Collaborative and team player mindset.
