Description
The Service Manager is responsible for cultivating, managing, and growing all aspects of the service department while maintaining a safe environment. You will be responsible for maintaining profitability and quality workmanship goals through management of the service team. The Service Manager will uphold the company image while growing relationships with internal/external customers and employees alike.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Mentor, develop and coach technicians on how to perform their role to the best of their abilities.
- Ensure technicians are documenting, organizing, and working efficiently to manage the in and out flow of equipment.
- Maintain efficiency levels of at least 80% billable time.
- Maintain profitability through efficient management, quality repair, and work order processing.
- Ensure the shop, shop equipment, and equipment yard maintain a clean organized appearance.
- Manage operating expenses such as shop supplies, tooling repair, and tooling inventory.
- Perform quality checks on completed jobs to ensure the standards of quality repair are met.
- Manage work-in-process and pending service work to ensure repairs are proceeding in a timely fashion, needed parts are available, and the status is communicated to the customer.
- Provide accurate quotes to customers which include cost of materials and labor, correct repair path and any other OEM updates or servicing needs.
- Prepare, open, maintain, review and close work orders and service tickets in a timely manner. Ensuring all service warranty claims are submitted within the required timeframe to receive maximum credit.
- Discuss and answer customer questions regarding services provided and charges on repair order; ensuring follow-up communication with customers throughout the repair process.
- Enforce all safety rules and practices for working on or operating equipment and see that all tools and equipment are maintained in safe operating condition.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Skills and/or Qualifications
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
- Must be able to communicate and understand English
- Must hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Must pass a background check and drug screen
- Strong organizational, scheduling, and problem-solving skills
- Strong leadership and team management abilities
- Strong focus on customer satisfaction and relationship management
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
Working Conditions
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Shop environment with exposure to heat, cold, dust, dirt and noise
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience with in-service management software and Microsoft Office
- Experience working with heavy equipment, Takeuchi equipment is a plus
- 5+ years of experience in a heavy equipment/construction equipment service department with experience supervising or developing a team of technicians or service personnel
- Dealership or rental service management experience preferred
