Summary This position is responsible for performing Annual and 6-year Fire Extinguisher inspections & recharges as well as hydrotesting of fire extinguishers and other compressed gas cylinders for compliance with applicable local, state, federal and customer requirements by performing the following duties.Job Duties include but are not limited to:· Repair, test, and recharge fire extinguishers.· Perform Annual and 6-year inspections on fire extinguisher and other compressed gas cylinders.· Record and document all inspections, repairs, discrepancies, and recommendations.· Perform hydrotesting of fire extinguishers.· Add dry chem to the fire extinguisher and repressurize cylinder.· Depressurize and empty contents of gas cylinders and remove valves, rings, and washers.· Operate a pallet jack and other warehouse equipment.· Maintain clean and organized work areas including keeping parts and supplies necessary to perform the job stocked.· Maintain equipment and tools necessary to safely perform job.· Responsible to keep current with all local, state, federal, DOT and EPA regulations.· Maintain a safe and secure work environment by following OSHA and company safety programs.· Adhere to company policies and procedures as well as local, state, and federal regulations and laws.· Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.· Respectfully takes direction from supervisor/manager.· Other duties and projects as assigned.10-25% of time may be spent performing the following duties:· Operate, calibrate, and perform simple maintenance with/on computerized hydrostatic and ultrasonic cylinder testing equipment.· Record test results, cylinder serial number, and test date in a timely and accurate manner.· Check the expiration date of cylinders and assure DOT numbers are correct for the size of the cylinder.· Perform cylinder conversions including de-valving, valving, stripping, and repairing valves.· Repairing cylinder neck leaks and safety leaks.· Inspect and scrap defective cylinders.· Paint cylinders.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation and without posing a direct threat to safety or health of employees or others.
